Of the 7000 people who have been reported to apply for construction jobs Jason Davis has claimed that 500 people will be hired in the building of a shopping center- movie theater- involving International Speedway. Davis has promised that these jobs will be recruited locally. The word hire is being misused and doesn't include statements of when that construction will begin. It's a union idea that indicates that money is being used to benefit a tax break. Union contracts have always been suspect excessive pensions [fire department employees] receive excessive pensions along with excessive pay checks for no reason other than to investigate arson [the stores on A1a] an intentional act to show an insurance payoff and property loss for money lost on the parking garage/ Oceanwalk shops the Ocean Center {That has not paid for itself] loss of the revenue for the Hilton. All of this in an area that has been the promise of the future by the Main Street advisory board - another slush fund . Money changes hands with Hyatt Brown.

Construction delay's for the Cici Hyatt Brown Art Museum have been an ongoing problem in the vicinity of the speedway. 3 projects have been promised since the report of the museum made by Main Street advisory Board member [Gary Libby] Libby confessed on the radio as being the previous owner of Al's broken generator that operated the ice skating rink for the Bandshell. The reported cost for the repair of the generator was $30.000 reported by Al Smith. The underlining suspicion of trying to avoid disaster by causing a problem that includes causing a problem. The generator= could cause a safety issue related to insurance costs. The price mentioned just becomes a figure not an amount. The misused money in actually figures will remain a mystery. Politicians are not going to tell the public how much they steal. It has to be noted for the record. There must be something aside from the fact that people are already aware and tired of these problems. Proof!

Jason Davis must have been paid to write that awful editorial by ISC. Let's see who's getting free race tickets this year! Retail stores and a theater will pay poverty level wages after all the construction is done.Temporary workers for the special events do not provide a living wage for locals. I look forward to see who donates to his re-election. I now think he is a hoax and is afraid to state his opinion on topics that he was asked about. It's great that, as an electrician, he made $23 an hour. It takes years to obtain the training to get to that level and not a lot of unemployed people are going to be able to get the proper education to get to that level. The only thing "no-brainer", to use his term, is that he's in the Speedway's pocket now. The last theater on ISB was closed and turned into HH Greg. Why would anyone want to shop there and pay the higher taxes like at the Pavillion in Port Orange?

Expect Danica Patrick to run laps for a month or so that will delay everything while the France family prepares for the end of February. Then another excuse to not build the shopping center will come up. The Volusia Mall is a dinosaur something has to be done. They have to be stopped!

The road is paved with good intentions. None of those roads are on the speedway. By rights international Speedway property should belong to the legitimate owners of an airport! That would be progress.

You're swatting gnats with a tennis racquet. Our Government along with our tax dollars has programs for unemployed and underemployed people to go to trade schools to learn a trade that will get them back in the mainstream. You don't wait until the jobs are announced. These people have to have a little initiative to get off their dead azz and do something about their situation so maybe a little initiative would be setting a six month limit on any welfare payouts UNLESS you're actively enrolled in good standing with that program.

The articles and statements are always going to be about what people do not want to hear, D.H. is right. a resident of the county is more tuned into these bad ideas and they know when they're being duped. Everything is not about having an opposing point of view, The history of the county and the government dictates the way people feel about what isn't being done. You don't know enough about it to share that opinion Thomas A. There isn't anything to convince that it isn't your argument.

As it was mentioned in the related post [sorry about the ping pong game btw] I.S.C. received the very lowest tax break for the speedway [Daytona] of the 13 properties that they own. The $347,000 400 in campaign contributions that constitutes an excessive bribe by the France Family may or may not be included in the $312.000 in contributions by various unnamed private organizations. If there is a payoff an investigation will find it. The tracking of laundered money is an issue. Brian France has proposed making the stands smaller by 1/3 with ideas of increasing the cost of ticket sales. Brian France is under pressure to prove that money is moving in the right direction [which it isn't of course] and campaign contributions are a major focus of trying to find out how much money has changed hands and who did the wash. Which could be why various unnamed organizations have been mixed in the France Family contribution. The private matters are kept out of the paper by the France families favorite government. Matters that include accident lawsuits in more recent years bad attendance for speedway events. As previously mentioned those numbers have to consist of NASCAR employees & family members that make money from an event and take the money out of town there isn't much doubt about that. The France Family has I.R.S. problems in the mist of an investigation that has already taken a long time. They are more nervous than any newspaper knows about because that's what they pay for.

I agree the build out will only be on the south side of ISB. They are putting fake carrot in front of idiots who make the tax laws that only benefit ISC. It is only a way to build the monstrosity called a speedway into pretty pig without cutting into their corporations profits. Dorky Huckster must be on the Speedway payola.

Maryam Ghyabi & Associates is a civil engineering company on Rt1 in Ormond Beach. As the president of the coalition for improvements to International Speedway Blvd the former transportation director was appointed by Rick Scott to head the St. Johns Water Management District. The SJWMD keeps the same agenda restrictions - votes reconsideration open to the public discussion & final considerations. With the Ecological Cultural Historical Organization as a government slush fund that is not a redirection of money. It's organization with public records of how the money is being laundered.

You've veered off topic as usual just for the sake of arguing The point of discussion was about the unemployed not getting the good jobs. It's up to those people to do something about their situation IF, IF, IF they really want to work. But we all know it's easier to sit on your butt, done nothing but complain, and expect a welfare check.

The land development from Tuskawilla Park = government property- is intentional interference from government to avoid construction east & slightly west of Clyde Morris Boulevard. Business becomes more of a focus as the property moves toward Williamson. Intentions are directed to the speedway from both sides. Anyone doing business not related to the speedway is the direct route of town. The park- Daytona Highland historic monument unoccupied properties Mainland High School mostly government property without any indications of competing business.

Construction of a Publix Supermarket on the corner of Nova/I,S,B, was turned down. Retention ponds became an issue [according to Gary Libby] this idea can only involve the St. Johns Water Management district, Development of the Cici & Hyatt Brown Art Museum become more of an interest. A shopping center was planed without involvement from the France Family [ near Bank Of America] One person who claimed to live in that area protested on Wesh2 claiming to speak for an entire neighborhood, Development for a new Hampton Inn Nova/I.S.B.[ formally Daytona Lincoln Mercury was just a proposal with an expensive tax cost for design. The Hampton Inn [near the speedway] invested $2M.] into renovations.

Off topic, but there is a difference between unemployed and unemployable.

As it was pointed out in the original post. This [topic] posted as start your own discussion [with whomever you please] is about the deceit of promising construction jobs- not general employment] It is about construction delay's and why those problems happen. It is a discussion about what the first comment indicates not about education. The topic was posted by [Joe] and it can change at any given time. Violation of that right is the violation of freedom of speech!

Where did I mention that in my post? I spoke of unemployed and underemployed. The unemployable need to be with their family or protective custody of an institution. In the case of the unemployable leeches , maggots, bridge trash, and hoboes, put them on the road North or South. You stop feeding those mangy old stray dogs and they will go elsewhere!

You came back to defend your comment about unemployed/underemployed people mentioned that you didn't mean unemployable- then you called the unemployable maggots and bridge trash. You can't hold on to single thought. You also want people to explain your reading comprehension problems that you have with your own comments,

Clear out the pond scum and you have clean water. Do nothing and ALL the water stays spoiled. Understand or do you need a map?
