I will be starting work in Pikeville, TN. I know that Dayton is a fairly small town and was wondering if there are any apartments nearby? If not, then would would be the next best city to move to that is near Pikeville, TN?

Thanks.

Why not just look in Pikeville. The road you will have to travel across the mountain to Pikeville is not a good way to travel on a daily basis.Dayton is a little larger, but Pikeville is also a nice small town with a friendly community.

I checked the population of Pikeville, and it is only 2,000. I don't really want to live in that small of a town and I don't think there would be any places for rent there. I am used to commuting 15+ miles a day, so Dayton would be perfect.

I used to have to commute from Oak Ridge, TN to Wartburg, TN every day which was around 25 miles one way.

I will be driving up there soon, so I guess I'll see what's up there while I'm there. I just wanted to get an idea of what to expect as far as living goes.

Thanks.

I suggest you call former sheriff Leon Sneed for your rental needs. You can call his wife Linda at Century 21 or call his son who is the chief of police in Dayton. He and his wife, own lots of apartments. You can also call former Sheriff Sneed's other son who is running for sheriff and has 6 figure real estate holdings so he can hook you up as well. If that fails, you can call Dayton city manager Frank Welch. He is the brother in law to the former sheriff, uncle to the 2 Sneed boys and if you need help with book keeping, he has his sister or sister in law (not sure as its hard to keep up with the clan) who does the bookkeeping for her nephew chief. Many cheap apartments have been built but the rent isn't cheap. Section 8 and other government freebie rent programs is a plus in renting in Dayton. As for things to do, places to eat then you are basically better off in Pikeville. Pikeville has just as much stuff to do as Dayton just located on the other side of the mountain. Move to Dayton and learn to never question anyone and adapt to talking about people behind their backs and you should blend right in.
The only good thing that ever came out of Dayton is Hwy. 27 south.

The driving time is not the problem, but if you don't mind foggy, winding, mountain roads and icy conditions in the winter it is really a beautiful drive for the most part. There are plenty of rentals in Dayton, apartments and houses alike.

Dayton is really that bad, huh? Well, I guess I'll just have to take a trip up there sometime and figure out what will be the best for me.

Thanks for the feedback.

Please don't let these jealous people deter you from moving to our fine city. I suggest you contact JLS Rentals and Mr. Sneed can assist you in any way he can.

If you like living in a downtown area, just give a call right down to the Dayton Police Chief, he then can put you in contact his wife, Heather Howell Sneed who has property on Market Street and just landscaped the property on Main Street.

I have gainful employment and a home already, was trying to help out a possible future resident of Dayton is all. I can also recommend a few wonderful churches that myself, my family and friends attend.

If there was some way you could contact our present sheriff mike Kneel, he has a lot of property also, a big farm on dayton mountain etc., BUT I DON'T BELIEVE YOU CAN CONTACT HIM, ALMOST NOBODY ELSE CAN, except maybe a certain few and they probably have to get an appointment. now there is a picture of him somebody said, it's supposed to be across from the ambulance service,i saw a sign man up there the other day he was putting a bigger smile on kneel's face, he must think he gonna win an election or sumthing, i just don't know,if you were ever unlucky enough to talk to kneel leave your wife at home.

I grew up in dayton and now live in pikeville. You could always check out dayton mountain, you would be halfway in between. There are rentals out there on the mountain. If I had a choice I would live in Pikeville. Crossville is not that far away and wal mart in dunlap is only about a 20 min drive. Pikeville has good resturants and a good grocery store. They also have a hospital and a freds.
