Traffic investigators found that two vehicles were involved, a 2000 GMC truck and a 1996 Ford Mustang. Investigators said that 23-year-old Joseph Jordan and his passenger, 24-year-old Derrick Dugger, died at the scene. Both were from Dayton, Tennessee.

Ron Travis wants to be your state representative. Is he the same one that was seen laughing as Ben Travis got his new truck that his uncle's insurance paperwork got him? I don't care for Jim Cobb or any other politician but I think it is a shame that Ron Travis is pretending to love everyone around here but wants to keep what his relatives do wrong out of sight. May as well place a Smith or Sneed on the ballot if all we are going to elect is sneaky people with no morals. Ron Travis would probably legalize driving and texting, may as well because his nephew hasn't been put in jail or faced any repercussions other than a nice new truck the INSURANCE MANS paperwork bought him. Think long and hard before you vote for Ron Travis until he explains his part involving this crash that seems to have been swept under the rug as so many other things are around here.

Well I personally know Ben, and he will forever be torn up about this situation for the rest of his life. Making mean comments about him isn't going to bring those 2 people back. He made a mistake, like we all do. Actually I'm sure more than half the people making comments have texted and drove. I feel for the families of these 2 boys, I really do. But I personally believe Ben having to deal with knowing he ended someone's life is punishment enough.

Just reading all this today. I do have a question, why was the other driver not tested, but the two vicitms were? Is there a law that protects under age people from being tested? Were they trying to shift blame on innocent victims by making it look like they were at fault? Puzzles me.
my 17 yr old was killed in a wreck in rhea co when i recived accident report he was tested but not the one that hit him she was picking up her cig litter when she raised up she hit him she went home it broke his neck that was 20 yrs ago i still cry and think of him everyday what happend to the driver i hope he thinks about what he did everyday for the rest of his life

I am sorry for the parents of the lost young men. I do not think the Travis family took responsibility for the wreck. The young man responsible should not get a new truck. If anything, the family of the boys who were lost deserve the new vehicle. Seems like a nobrainer there. I feel the boy driving should have lost driving priviliges for a few years. Some type of punishment should have taken place. If they table was reversed and the other boys had hit him, they would be underneath the jail. Just saying. I will bet you they would not be driving a new truck for their punishment.

sad thing is because like tyler sneed being a member of a big name family in rhea co. we ll never know what tyler sneed s drug tox screen was had he been drinking or doing drugs before the crash that took his life same with state rep. travis boy there was any drugs in his tox screen had he been drinkig? i hate this sorry good old boy town if half of the so called good people who go to church and claim to have their counties good name to up hold. i say this to them where were you when condon graham owned this town and corrupted the state legal system from the da office down to the cop on the beat. its supposed to be nobody is above the law in the the usa just dont tell that to the sneeds and their supporters. or cobb or any other office holder who think they are above the law

Right is right and wrong is wrong, but we have a county full of adults who want to break rules and have their children break rules and then have everyone turn it off like it did not happen. Like the writer of the previous post said, if the tables were turned, the other two boys would not have been rewarded with a new vehicle. I say they would be in jail paying their punishment for a nice boy getting hurt. Just my opinion. If he were really a nice boy, then he should donate the truck to some needy teenager or family who does not have one.
Seems right is right in this county as long as someone who feels they should not have to be held accountable for their actions is involved. Hypocrits! The county is full of them. Just look around.
