Is Bobby Doss running for mayor? He could get all of Vincents vote plus some. We do not need Gary Louallen in charge of appointing planning commissions, utility commissions, ethics commissions and running a city council meeting. From past expierence we know all he can do is use public tax dollars to gamble on new business ventures where he claims or better said OVERSTATES and misrepresents projected revenue. He and he alone is responsible for a boat dock sitting over there on a dry lake bed with his pal's boy that has hired someone to hang around and sell a hamburger, and from what is going around it is eagle Exxon hamburger meat. Maybe Louallen should answer to some sort of ethics charge while he panders for votes. Bob Vincent who is mayor now has the power to have Louallen investigated. I vote Bobby Doss over Gary Louallen.

one thing for doss.ive see him, many times working in temp over 90.louallen i know him doing years ago. working on poker machines.do we want a man that started with nothing and works every dayin as our mayor.or do we want one in as mayor, that will do what it takes to help a handful, get richer and not worry about the rest.i already know which way i will vote.i hope the rest will join in.never stop until the poles have closed.

To "blueboy", Respectfully, I want to toss my opinion out here, for what Its worth. In breaking down your comment, you first state that you have seen Bobby Doss work many times in 90 degree weather. Hey, so have I. I have been sitting in my air conditioned truck as drive by the graveyard and say "damn, I'm glad that's not me". But I like Bobby, played Dixie Youth Baseball with him, went to school with him, you know what I mean. So YES, Bobby is indeed a worker, a sportsman, seems rather motivated and in my opinion has served the council well. But does this make him a mayor?

Your second issue seems to be that "you pretty much know Gary Louallen for a long time and you remember when he had a store, had video poker games in there (hell, who around here hasn't played a poker machine--I love poker myself) but he was a businessman and went from "nothing", as you state, to becoming a mayor. But does that make him a mayor.

My opinion is this: Bobby is a good guy. I think he is honest, sincere and has integrity and wants to do the right thing. However, I couldn't vote for him for mayor, but would gladly support his bid for councilman if he should run again.

This leaves Gary Louallen. To me, if he started out with nothing, as you state, yet he possessed the ability to wheel and deal, to bargain, negotiate a deal, expand an idea, learn creative ways of thinking and getting things done, well then in my book I would have to cast my vote for Gary Louallen. In fact, I plan to cast my vote for him. We know we need creative thinkers and Gary has established that. I would like to give him the reins of the mayor and see how he does. But more importantly, we need "honest" ones. I think we all can agree on that. www.searchofserenity.com

Well, there is my two cents worth :)

wolfeagle wow start from nothing now has money. poker machines were and still are against the law.and has far to many partners in what he does.and is guided by some of his partners. so lets place this out for issues. will he bring in big jobs that will help rhea county. or jobs that wont create any problems for what he has already going on. lets say another boatdock with more tourneys. would he vote for this. no it would be against his partners.also would he vote for the people of the city? or would he vote with certain ones?? would he stop the waste of tax payers money on hotel rooms and their eats plus who goes with them? i can not vote for gary. as a person yes i like gary.to many skeletons in his closet for me to vote for him as mayor. as for councilman yes i will vote for him.one of his friends is city councilman and also involved with county. i do not think he needs to help both city and county. only one. thats my opinion.

Louallen has no partnersin anything. Propaganda spreaders would like you to believe he does, but its not true. Unless you count his wife. Louallen stopped the crazy out of control spending by Vincent, Doss and the rest as soon as he got elected.Go check out the figures of before and after if in doubt. My vote will be for Louallen as he is at least trying to bring money here by fishermen . Think it is good that city and county are finally working together to bring good things to all of us. Thats how it should be done and friends have nothing to do with that. Boat dock was put out there for any of us to rent and all councilmen voted to rent it out, including Doss. Are they all so called partners? Louallen did start from nothing and looks to me like he has worked hard to get where he is today. Proven businessman who knows how to succeed. Poker machines? That horse is dead so stop beating it.

I think the whole Dayton election process is a set up. You have staggered elections where 2 can get elected then a few years later 3 more get elected. Now a councilman can run for mayor and if he loses he still retains his seat. Why can't all candidates decide which office they want and all run at one time? Elections cost $10,000 easily. One more thing, the boat dock may have been put out there to rent but never was put out there to tear down the old one, build a $125,000 new one, build new ramps, provide tax money for placing a cherry picked person in business. Other than increased exxon gasoline sales and more hotel rooms rented Louallen has never said how much revenue has even been made, all he does is pass on lip service to use tax funds to pay these over priced fishermen that will fish in a pond if the purse winnings are big enough. I will not vote for Louallen.

Last I looked Doss was right in the backseat with Vincent on most of those money spending trips he took. Eating it up on tax dollars.

He sure was! Including wives and booze bill. Had to spend a night or two in Knoxville for some kind of one day 4 hr. class held on this side of Knoxville. Yeah if you want more of that kind of spending then vote for Doss or Vincent.

Maybe I will run for something. Why not? I could sit around and psycho-babble about issues or at least stand up and try. Heck, we each could try that one couldn't we...

Win or Lose it would be fun to debate candidates and force them to stand beside me at a function to debate and argue their "thinking" to that of established facts. Moreover, I have been empowered in my thinking when I realized how "certain people" had to commit perjury to win their point. If they did things right, then why the need to "Lie" to commit a felony such as perjury? People LIE for a reason. Now I can completely agree that a lie is a strong tool for the Devil, but it is easily defeated in the minds of righteous people by something as simple as the "Truth".

Either way, the super majority that do not vote may be convinced to vote especially in the wake of the turbulent times that are on the horizon. People who are asleep can be awakened with "nudging". Maybe I'll run for mayor. It may piss off some but also might very well make some others happy. Who knows.

Almost like a coin toss in my book...someone must flip the coin in order to see how it lands on heads or tails.

really unless they have changed gary did have a partner at the eagle exxon. when it was built i know who his partner was then.go check youll see i am correct. start with nothing now has alot.means very little.execpt hes gained money.?? how did they gain this.is this what we really need to run the city?? i think not. look at water rates up up. really they dont need to go up.as for doss riding with bob.nothing wrong with 2. look how the others ride. when they go out of town .all council. not just one or two. spend tax payers moneys. on things they dont need to.this has been going on for years.even before the new ones joined.now three of them have changed to way the mayors race is ran.i vote change it back to the old way. more even for all.?? is it right for a councilman to help both city and county? i really disagree on that issue. it interfers with alot of the city.

i scrap by working at a local store and i cant make it, i find myself staying mad all the time but i think i feel i am a good person just feel like i am clawing up a hill sliding in a frenzy when the elec bill comes and those water rates are going up or have gone up again. i dont even know who is running and it is not fair that these counsel man can swithch these elections around so that when 2 get something they can get the 3rd one, always the same just different people. might as well keep what we got and just not even bother voting, i dont play on voting want matter any ways. so what do we do?

Did as you suggested, and no partner in exxon with Louallen. Has a payment at bank like the rest of us. Randolph and Louallen don't go on trips like the rest. They only go when it is required for school certification or something like that, and do not make a family week out of it when they have to go. They car pool and make a day trip out of it. Check the records of the rest and you will be very surprised at what you see. Doss is right on Vincents coat tails all the way there and back. Maybe Vincent is grooming him to take over the throne. Scary thought in my opinion. I agree on the mayor election. Vincent wanted it changed as he would never have been chosen by the other council and he new it. He has lost respect of the others by his actions. All except Doss.
