I read a story on the Herald news site concerning the City of Dayton Budget, tax increase and sewer fee increases (noticed the water rate increase wasn't mentioned). I found the following part quite interesting. "The proposed budget passed on its first reading with a vote of 4-1. Vice Mayor Bobby Doss voted against the budget because it included a 50-cent-per-hour raise for all city employees.
Doss said after the meeting that he didn't think it was fair to Dayton residents for the city to raise property taxes 10 cents while giving city employees raises"
Now, keep in mind that Bobby Doss didn't have a problems voting to increase your taxes or your fees. He only had a problem with the budget because the employees were going to get a .50 raise. Now, he knew full well when he voted for that tax increase, which cam eup first, that the budget was coming up later and included the raise. Yet he voted for the increase. It's blatantly obvious that Doss still harbors ill feelings because he didn't get that Park and Recreations position he applied for a few years ago and that's why he ran for council to begin with! BOBBY BOBBY BOBBY. LET IT GO! You got your precious traffic light, so cheer up and relax before you pop like a big zit! Maybe you don't realize how much it shows on you when you don't like something but you turn all red like a big festered up zit. Then again, that's pretty much what you are right? Just a pimple on Tom Vanderwall's butt that kisses Bob Vincent's butt so you can get what you can off the City. After all "that's the way it's always been. why does it have to change now that we've finally been elected to the council?". Sound familiar at all? I just hope all those people that thought you were the nice guy at Vanderwall's when they voted for you before realize or find out just what kind of funds sucking leech you really are before next April.

You are right!! Doss would not vote for a raise for the city employees because it might cut into his lodging , food, gas, and last, but not least drink expenses for all of the city paid trips he takes!! It would break his heart to have to give up his city paid cell phone. Don't know why he needs one. Vincent is probably the only one who calls him. Wonder if he takes care of Bob's lawn? I bet he does!! Anyone who would even consider re-electing this sorry excuse for a councilman would have to be out of their mind!! Can't figure out how he got elected the first time. Didn't Vincent do something right before the election to turn voters against Chris Conner? Seems like it came out the day before and conner had no time to defend himself. Vincent/Doss dirty politics at its finest!! Turned out after the election of course, Conner had done nothing wrong. But it was to late, and once again Vincent own. So sick that this man always gets away with the wrong things he does.

Vincent went to the paper and insinuated that Conner had done wrong in voting for improvements on a subdivision he and his dad owned. Was very damaging to him on paper but it turned out he had done everything right. He was vindicated but it was after he lost the election. That is the way they planned it. It was a shame because he really seemed to care about the good of the city. Wonder what they are scheming for the next city election. You can bet Vincent will do all he can to keep his boy Doss in there. It will be up to the voters to see this doesn't happen. We shall see.

Get your facts straight, please!!! Just for the record, Bobby Doss has no city phone nor did he go to Memphis for the trips you are referring. Some of you may be mad at Bobby politically and that is your right, but when you attack people because of physical appearance and ridicule where they work, then you have crossed the line. It is good to have people of all backgrounds make up a council. Someone said he is not a business man. Why is it that you think this? Is it because he landscapes and does not sit behind a desk all day? We need people of all walks of life to make America run. Someone has to do the work. I guess you would say Sam Walton and Donald Trump were not up to par either. All I am saying is keep it above the belt.

He does not landscape, he mows. Get your facts straight!! When was the last city paid trip he took and how many has he gone on this year? Heard he had to miss the Memphis trip as he was on vacation somewhere. Bet he hated it that he missed out on that one.

Mowers, landscapers, store employees, mechanics, electricians, secretaries, policemen, ambulance drivers, bus drivers, volunteers, restaurant workers, factory workers,custodians... we need them all to keep our country going. You do not have to have on a suit and tie to get the job done.

I am curious about something.. What did Doss do before he became Vanderwall's mower? Was he in business, work at a factory, teach, or what. If he was in business, what was it and how successful was it? Have never heard about his previous careers so if anyone knows, tell us.

I know. Landscaper, for Levenger and a good one at that. He also does a wonderful job of taking care of the cemetary, referring games, and coaching ball when he has time.
Again with the cuts about someone's job. Just wondering what your degree and position are??? Maybe a neurosurgeon working on highly delicate surgical matters, or maybe a chemist or scientist trying to find a cure for cancer? Just be careful when you cut someone down about their job. The grass would get pretty high without mowers and the world would get messy without all the great people who go to work each day to keep it all cleaned up.

I heard the mayor say himself when they were looking to fill Mr. Barnes seat that he himself was surprised at how little specifications there were required to be a councilman. The editor at the herald also put their two cents in to support the mayors position on qualifications by stating that he felt that a council man should be a retired, successful business man.

And as far as people getting on here and calling Bobby Doss fat, thicken your skin, no one is beyond being cruicified on this site, haven't you noticed?

Oh, Poor Bobby. He's found someone to feel sorry for him. It darn sure isn't me, and I bet those employees at the city don't either. He's always been a jerk and being on the council made him a bigger jerk and being vice mayor made him an even bigger jerk....

A little touchy aren't you?? I simply asked a reasonable question as I had never heard what his past careers were. I thought he had been in business for himself at one time. Guess I was wrong. Your very attitude makes me wonder if you have a reason for defending him as you are. Something we don't know about? I take great exception to your accusation that I have cut him down. His actions speak for themselves, he needs no help from me. Brain surgeon, chemist, no, but it takes neither one of those to realize he is way out of his league here and might want to stick to what he knows best, which is...mowing. There is nothing wrong with that.

Bobby got my vote first time around because he asked for it and I believed in him. I hope he comes and "asks for it" again so I have the opportunity to tell him, face-to-face, why he won't get it.$50 says he won't have the BALLS to ask me.

Save your $50...don't you folks realize he doesn't need your vote? He has Bob Vincent and his cousin Ronnie Raper to help him get elected! They know how it's done.
