What you dont understand is that the money Jeff Hill got paid Dizzy Dean so that the host town will be Dayton. Now Dayton Youth Baseball will receive gate fees and concession money for all the teams that will be there. Dayton Baseball will make a whole lot of money off this. This is how the parks keep up their fields have such nice places unlike Dayton. The city will get back from people staying in hotels, buying gas, food etc. Mr. Hill was representing Dayton Baseball not Dizzy Dean. Dayton Baseball needs to take the money they will make which will be double the 7500 and put it back into fixing up the fields. So if the board of directors will use the money right it will benefit the kids.

post #40 get your facts straight. That money helped make it possible for Dayton to host Dizzy Dean districts for a certain age group and possibly a state tourney for another age group. That brings in lots of money for the league (admission, concessions, Tshirts) and it brings in revenue for local businesses, too. Hill did a great thing by getting that money but it looks like he might have stepped on some toes. And that is a shame for the program as a whole. I thought he did a great job.

The good news in all of this is that Chris Reel is gone so the league may move in the right direction.

Sounds like a few trouble makers in that group that was just named to me. Actually more than a few trouble makers.

Do not understand this post. Is this the group that is supposed to help out or is this the group who caused the problem? My vote is the group that caused the problem.

Chris Reel has coached my kid before. I have to be careful or he may end that. He is a fairly good coach, better than his brother. The board members are ones that have been on there for a long time with him. A few new ones were added, Fugate, Wayne Cox and Adam Reel, Chris Brother.
These old guys, Flory, Lytle and Guthries do whatever he says. The new one Fugate,Tipton hangs out with him all the time at the fields, the other his brother. I can see how they did what they did if that is what he wanted. They would jump off a cliff if he told them too.

I am confused. Back when I played little league baseball it was called "Dixie Youth Baseball". Now it seems there is a "Dayton Youth Baseball" and we hear things of a "Dizzy Dean" group. One of these comments posted seem to say Dizzy dean promotes tournaments or something which is fine, but they are not part of Dayton little league baseball. So which is it? Is it Dixie Youth Baseball or Dayton Youth Baseball? This is a very important question because it appears there are elections, solicitations of funds, liabilities, board members, etc. I did a simple search for "Dixie Youth" as well as "Dayton Youth" baseball at the state secretary database here: http://tnbear.tn.gov/ECommerce/FilingSearch.a...
I found no such "non-profit" corporation or any type of anything. If there is some sort of "corporate" filing then by law there MUST be a Charter. Within that Charter contains the by-laws, constitution, seal and all the other little things that give a corporation be it profit or non-profit it's life. Usually when I address city hall, i use the Charter as my tool and advocate those elected to abide by it, or not. Then I go from there on what path I choose for my remedy for my concern.

If there is no Charter, then under what authority is any election even had? Exactly WHO controls the money, the rules, makes decisions, etc. and on what authority do they make them?

One thing I have learned (not just around here but everywhere) the whole world seems to have turned upside down and you are either "in" or "out" of the loop. There seems to be only power hunger, greed and a host of other things that suppress the many and promote the bad. It seems the "better" a person tries to be or the nicer they are the more they are hated. Those that dare speak up can lose their jobs, or have their child sitting on the bench due to something a parent may have said that pissed off a coach.

I suggest parents unite and meet informally at a designated place. Invite people with the inside knowledge of the baseball program and st down and figure out what is happening. Once you know what is happening, address the situation not in typing "things we think, things we heard, things we thought, etc" and actually address the problem.

Lastly, in my opinion, I feel that if Jeff Hill was wrongly tossed aside due to "politics' of the game, then he should stand up and fight for himself and for the youth baseball program he obviously cares a lot about. I know all too well how Jeff feels IF he was secretly stabbed in the back by those that always called him "friend". I don't have a dog in this race but always for some reason place my 2 cents where I feel some sort of injustice has been done. I wish there were more of us around...

Just my thoughts on this.

Chris Reel is still president and he has done a good job. I do not know what all of this is about but I do know that Mr. Hill has done a wonderful job helping baseball. I am only mad that only a select few knew about the election. The baseball program has a callout system that is used that goes to everyone who has kids playing ball. The election should have been announced so the parents of about 500 kids could have been made aware of the election. I do not know why this was not done. This way the league would have had more than 20 people voting for an election. If Chris Reel has any desire to do what is right then he should announce a recall election so everyone will know and then let the votes fall where they may. I think the parents were cheated not being able to have a vote or say. Just my opinion and I know that the way things are around here nothing will be done to change a wrong to right.

All this fussing and bickering makes the whole group of ball "players" and their mommies and daddies look really stupid. Face the facts now that the little one is not going to the big leagues. If mommy and daddy could get them there we would have a whole lot more players who make the big leagues than we do. It is competitive. It is a cruel hard world out there. Best that the little one learns it now. Stay away from the ball field fussing and let the coaches coach. let your little one learn that the best players play and everyone else sits the bench and watches. Quit the fussing. In twenty years your kid will be at lazyboy with the rest of them. Not saying that is a bad place to be, just sayin.

Well it would take the fun out of it if they did not get to go down to the ballfield and show their own bad sportsmanship. Ever wonder why the kids are bad sports? Well take a good hard look at mom and dad. They see both parens pouting if they lose. The see one parent or the other fussing with the umpires and coaches. They see them use profanity when they don't get their way. They see them fussing amongst themselves. If you ever really wonder why little johnny is a brat just take a real hard look at mom or dad. I am sure you will find your answer.

Do you honestly think that Chris Reel would do what is right? He dont care about the kids or the parents. He wants to keep his hands in the cookie jar. I would guess he was be behind the whole thing. It would have been his job to announce the election and he didnt because he knew he would lose control. He will still run it, he has his friends and brother still on there. He set it up the way he wanted it to be and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

I spoke with Jeff during the season. He had so many great ideals for the league and he for sure knew how to get donations. One thing he said that I think may have got him was that he wanted each year for someone to come in an audit the books for the simple reason to show the parents where their money goes. Maybe this is what got him. I know personally that he deeply cares about the league and the children. He accomplished so much in such a short time that I would have loved to seen what would have happened if he were there for a long time. Last year my son went to the world series and he spent his own money to buy necklaces and baseball cards to help raise money for them to go. Now this age group is not the age group of his son but he did it anyway. What bothers me is that Chris Reel and John Guthries kids were on that team that he helped and look how he was repayed. I have lost respect for some people that I have been associated with for a long time.

I think the whole lot of you have way too much time on your hands. Quit fussing and fighting over which one does more. Like another person said if you want to do then do and if you don't then don't. Which parent did more, well who cares? Funny to hear people say, I did this and I did that. Ego trips. If you are stupid enough to donate all the time then go for it. Someone will replace you when you start getting too many stars in your crown.
