What the heck? This year since the City of Dayton has no place like Heartland grill to go to b/c its been shut down, they are having it held at Bryan college. Just why is this? Why cant they just have the dinner at city hall like they always did in the past? Wonder who's idea this was? I smell a rat!!

Maybe Mayor Bob Vincent wants to comingle the city dinner with the facullty at Bryan College. Afterall, Vincent is an alter boy in the "Presidents Club".

My suggestion: ALL city employees tell the city council to shove Bryan College, their damn red light and their cheap ass turkey dinner up their damn asses. Seriosly. It's a matter of pricipal. I would never sell out for a damn dinner. Stay home, enjoy family and friends and let Bob and the gang go coddle with people that mean nothing to anyone. Why break bread with people you know looks at you as inferior?

Please city employees. Try something NEW. Try a simple "stand up" by just not attending the dinner.

Well, we know pretty much every employer has some sort of dinner this time of year. The city is no different. And yes, if a dinner location is the biggest problem Dayton has then we all are better off than ever expected. These employees deserve a nice dinner, just as any other employee. In a way, it would be neat to see the council not participate at the dinner as they are not department heads or city workers. They have no individual authority or position, just a collective decision making body that apparently gets to "wine and dine" several times at the public's expense.

Dinner for the city employees. Elected councilmen stay home, JMO

Its not just a christmas dinner for the city employees and the councilmen with their wives. its a prime rib steak or chicken dinner for all city workers and all of their familes. used to be at city hall and for city workers only. most the guys preferred it that way. thanks to a councilmans wife by the way of the truck stop, thats when everything changed for the citys dinners. I guess since the city can pay out to serve prime rib steaks for all the families to eat a meal then they should be able to afford some desent christmas lights up all over town instead of those little red and green banner christmas flags that are truly horrible and shows we dont have a city that cares about this town and what it looks like this time of season.

Those that pay city taxes can thank two rivals for this prime event that went from an ordinary employee dinner to an extraveganza and those are Maxine Vincent and Bonnie Louallen. These women are married to 2 people that clearly can't stand each other but will wipe each others a$$ so each can get there on way on what they want. I am not against a employee dinner but am against the money spent on it. I also am against Louallen pressing that boat dock for his sheriff buddy. Dayton looks dreadful and has no chrismas cheer anywhere and yes those banners year after year are ugly. Dayton may not be like Chattanooga but so what. Chatt. is not like Nashville either is it. Spring city is the most festive little town in the county and Dayton officials should be a shamed if they cared. They only care when elections come around.

You are right on! They used to blame the HIGH first of the year electric bill on Christmas lights. They still try to if you complain. Who the heck do they think they are kidding?

The City of Dayton boys work super hard. All departments. They deserve some recognition. And It's Christmas & it's just a dinner. No big deal.

I think this is ridiculous. Why should anyone care whether the city employees have a dinner? And you should be supportive of the city including spouses. I remember when Dayton Bank used to have Christmas dinners/drunken gatherings and it was mandatory not to take your spouse. Talk about trouble brewing. Mind your own business, count your blessings, and let the good folks of the City of Dayton enjoy a good meal. Merry Christmas to all!

The christmas dinner was excellant and had a good time. Its high time they started including the city employee wives. There was no prime rib steaks. It was grilled rib eye steaks or chicken. Your choice. Plus they gave special awards to city workers that had been there 5 yrs up to 40 yrs service. But the snobbs that wouldn't speak or say hello to anyone was not Bob Vincent. He's the only one that was friendly. Bryan College did a great job cooking that meal.

I'm sure Bryan college upper crust was VERY nice to Dayton employees and the mayor and council. The college got a free red light from the city so a nice meal was the least they could do. That red light was earmarked to go on Hy 27 but not there at a created private entrance for a college. It was supposed to had went at the intersection at the hospital. There was no private donation to have that light installed. Even if there was any donations made for a public utilities project then the donation must be disclosed. There was NO donation it was city taxpayer money and state grants that installed that red light. Bob Vincent can lie all he wants. I wonder if the sheriff will host a dinner and invite the city property owners for a free meal at his taxpayer paid lounge/bait shot business?

Why was Bob Vincent even there? He isn't a city employee. He isn't even a real mayor, just a title. He is a glorified councilman going on 80 years old.

Duhhhh! All city councilmen and their families was there. Was it not ok for the mayor to be there and yet fine for the Louallens? The reason the city changed their dinners from city hall to outside restaurants was because Bonnie wanted it changed. Maybe you'd like her to be the mayor? hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I applaud all those hard working city employees!!!!!!!!
