I'd be glad to spread the love around a little bit. I am tired of us property owners having to carry the brunt of the burden all the time. Time for everyone else to ante up a little bit too.

What most people don't understand is that a wheel tax is actually a more fair tax than property tax. Only about 35-40% of the Rhea County population actually own's property. However every household owns at least one vehicle. So as it stands now 35% of the county is paying for the rest of the 65%. I disagree with raising any taxes and making agencies more stream line and efficiant like any business should run. However, I disagree that a wheel tax wouldn't promote more equal taxation among all levels of society.

Oh and Cobb only won his own district at his own church 89/82...maybe that should say something about the man. Everyone is tired of his lying and total lack of getting anything done.

Let the commissioners sell off all they own and pay for everything THEY voted to buy. Sure they have a degree of "power" to levy a tax, etc., but they are forbidden to vote for any UNFUNDED expenditure. If they were qualified to hold office they would know this. Maybe Ron Travis can submit a Bill mandating any person wanting to run for a commissioner at least have some college in accounting, can spell, can do more than add and subtract up to 10x10= 100 and a common sense test. Electing idiots to any position is the demise of us all. Don't believe me, go to the moon and look back at Earth and see how bad it has become. I didn't mess it up, people placed in positions they clearly are not qualified for did. Want to ruin a company, hire a manager who has downs syndrome to hire people. The company will be broke in a year. same goes for a government agency. Sometimes hiring family members from the same gene pool is good for the Rheatards just not for the rest of us. No wheel tax. No property tax increase. They voted to build a school with no way of funding it and Mike Taylor should toss that issue in his little investigation bax, if any such box exists. Fair or not, a wheel tax will never happen here because as you say "it is fair".

The final straw with me was that crazy animal restraint bill. Other than photo ops and naming highways after everybody and their grandpa, he can go be a hog farmer. If Ron wants to be a one-termer then he can do what the commissioners want him to do by submitting a bill for a wheel tax, we will defeat it by referendum then vote him out in 2 years. He can play ball with the nay sayers or do what's right. His choice.

from what i can tell about the "tbi" in dayton is they r just as big a part of the "good ole boys" club as the rest of them. if u r on their side or vise versa, u can get out of anything. small town political bullshit, might as well let all the hard working folks from the projects run the town, they r probably more honest!! they even let people on their side steal personal info from government computers, so watch your credit reports and bank statements, especially if you have any enemies that work in the government buildings downtown. if u r thinking the tbi will help, may as well call calvin!!!!!!!

1st off cobb cannot run again this time. he lost primary its over unless the investagation reveals something.he cannot run as independent in november cause this race was over election night. cobb does have his right to appeal as for recount.but i dont think cobb will. cobb will wait for reports back from investagation 1st. look out for wheeltax now again soon. to be talked about. ron doesnt mind a wheeltax he can afford it. yet many of us cant. to many taxes already
Cobb can run as an indep. cand. and he has until August 19th or 20th to put his name on the ballot. He should run. People have been smearing his name and he deserves a chance to run again. This was a primary hence the election people were upholding the const. when they did what they did about the voting privileges of one M. Vincent. If she had been turned away with no leg to stand on why do you think we never heard any more about the issue? Go Cobb and I hope he does turn his name back in to run. A group of Cobb supporters who turned on him because of bruised egos. By the way, the same supporters who were in his face being his best bud a few years back. These are not friends, Mr. Cobb, these are social climbing users. The county is full of them. You have this voters vote go for it.

If what you say is true about voting to build a stuff with no way to fund it then why are these people even in office? I disagree with the college degree remarks. Some of the biggest idiots in the world can hold a college degree. It doesn't take a neuro surgeon to get a college degree. Common sense, business sense, and IQ outrank college degrees on any day of the week. Some of the smartest people in the world do not hold college degree. That is what we have now everybody has a college degree that has been dumbed down by a society where everyone gets one. It does not take rocket science to go to college earn a B or C and get a degree. It just takes a little bit of discipline to do it. It is just task completion not genius. Einstein had no college degree but he did just fine.
Back to the the election you are saying the com. wanted travis to run to vote for a wheel tax to pay for the school they couldnt afford. All makes sense now. At least they probably got what they were after their names on a plaque in a lobby for years to come. Sure hope Ron can help them out. Don't worry the people can pay higher taxes. Go get yourselves another lap top and head on over for a retreat somewhere. We got it covered. Gas, food, rooms, fees, golf, you deserve it all and it needs to be the best. By crackers you deserve it.

To all you Rhea Countians who have voted down the wheel tax time and time again, looks like you just voted one right into office. Do your research before you press the buttons. You might have gotten rid of Cobb, but now we will all have a wheel tax.
I hope Mr. Cobb will run as an independent. Better yet, there has to be a more qualified individual out there who can do the job.
Just my opinion.

Bingo is illegal in the state of Tn. and spring city calls it something else but it is bingo cash exchanges hands and they play the 50 50 tickets the vets keep 50 percent of the take in and 25% goes to 2 bingo players that attend! Totally illegal! But Cobb supports that!
So there is your one thing! Illegal bingo they call it a fund raiser which is also only allowed one time a year with a permit! Post 203 has no permit to be playing bingo every Saturday night. Just because vets have served our country they should still do LEGAL activities! But not in Spring City.

i always thought a state rep made laws not enforce them, cobb is not a sheriff, so pass your bingo concern that harms nobody but helps the area veterans to your local sheriff, if you can ever find him

Those old folks are not running a casino. What a joke. If that is all you have to complain about a bunch of old folks who like to play bingo then I suggest you look around this county for some real problems because they are all around. Have you ever watched our elected officials work? There is something for you to complain about.

This comes straight from the Tennessee Secretary of States Election Commission website

4. Filing deadline. Primary candidates must file their nominating petitions no later than NOON on April 5, 2012; candidates who intend to run as independents on the November ballot must also file their petitions by NOON on April 5, 2012.

so all you cobbites just need to live with it..the drunk lost the race because of his arrogance and total disregard for the regular public.

Number four says primary candidates. This would be a general election.
If Mr. Cobb wants to run again, it will come out soon enough. Have heard nothing from the Cobb camp so maybe he does not. It is my undestanding it is not too late for the general election.

I know Jim Cobb would do good for rhea county but to me I dont think Ron Travis had a little help from someone to get him in there it was not hisself that did.He thank he is better than ever one in this town but that name dont mean a thing too me or no one else in this town I can say Jim Cobb did have a heart for ever one in this town.and the people that did vote for you Ron will fine you out real fast.you should of stayed in the seat you was in that because after a week people will be thinking what did I mean by doing this I was stupid.
