$20,000 a year for cheapest Obamacare plan

This should kill off the dumbest and poorest.
$20,000 a year for the cheapest Obamacare family plan.
This should also kill off all employer-paid plans.
Since $20K/year is an unaffordable expense for the vast majority of families, the IRS will then levy the $2,400 a year penalty for failing to obey Obama's ruling, and the families will have NO insurance.
This great news for funeral homes, crematoriums and gravediggers.

OMG, I had no idea it would be that high. I think everybody should try and understand this as I think this will leave most everyone uninsured as most employers will just pay the penalty. That is what we have heard for over a year, but now that the IRS has published the penalties it is really looking like it is going to happen. Read this:
"The annual national average bronze plan premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000, the regulation says.
Bronze will be the lowest tier health-insurance plan available under Obamacare--after Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Under the law, the penalty for not buying health insurance is supposed to be capped at either the annual average Bronze premium, 2.5 percent of taxable income, or $2,085.00 per family in 2016.
In the new final rules published Wednesday, IRS set in law the rules for implementing the penalty Americans must pay if they fail to obey Obamacare's mandate to buy insurance."

Neither did Congress.
They passed Obamacare without reading it, remember?
When you have a country where the people are simply too stupid to live, they die.

Maybe some of the folks who were so enthusiastic to get 'free insurance' will start to open their eyes to what is really happening.
The original plan was that states would put insurance exchanges in place and people in low income brackets could buy state insurance and the federal government would give a tax credit to offset this cost. However....most of the states are saying, "Sorry Bub...We're not doing it".
And let's talk about that tax credit. I am a financial professional. Most people who have incorrectly taken too few exemptions on their W4 get a refund. Like an insurance tax credit, this is cash in hand. Do you think they'll take that cash and set it aside to pay for future insurance payments?
Nope. They'll do what every other consumer does. They'll consume. They'll get their nails done, buy gold teeth, buy new wheels, go to Panama City, buy a new ATV...anything BUT set the money aside for what it was intended.
The Supreme Court called the penalty for not buying insurance what it is. A TAX. This whole program is about more taxes, not insuring the masses. They knew families don't have extra money to pay for this fallacy called insurance.
The average Georgian in financial distress according to 2011 numbers supplied by CredAbility has $46,566 gross annual income, has a ($1,225) monthly budget deficit,$25,038 in unsecured debt, and has -$43,340 net worth. And a 565 credit score. This is not a family who can afford $20,000 in insurance.
We are being led to a financial slaughter house. God have mercy on us.

But why would God have mercy on us?
All our problems are self-inflicted.
A population dumbed-down by an education system that renders them unable to read a contract, or perform a financial analysis.
A consumer culture created by Madison Avenue and Hollywood.
A military and industrial complex that has left our wealth rotting away in the deserts and jungles all over the world.
An economic system that provides unlimited meaningless choice: cheese flavored dog food, but no decent schools.
Grape Nuts that contain neither grapes, nor nuts.
Vaccines that contain mercury.
Doctors that destroy health.
Lawyers that destroy justice.
Universities that destroy knowledge.
Government that destroys Freedom.
A Media that destroys information.
And religions that destroy spirituality.
No mercy will be wasted on our demise.

Spot on. The crux of the entire problem is the education system, and they knew that was the way to conquer the greatest nation on earth. We have let them take over our schools and change not only the curriculum but the way it is taught so that no one really remembers anything after graduation. They can make the parents think the kids are doing really well by giving them great grades. They score well on meaningless tests. They are now taught that it is cruel to make them learn the multiplication tables. Cruel? They no longer teach cursive writing so they can't even read any of the original documents of our nation or even old letters from their grandparents.
They say if you don't learn history you are doomed to repeat it. They want us to repeat it. We are slowly letting our country be taken over and more than 50% of the population is unable to understand that. It isn't that they don't care, they don't see a problem. If they actually were capable of understanding that our country cannot continue to support the base, that it is going to fold in and collapse upon itself and leave the wealthy and the poor and no one inbetween, the middle class would object because they would see that they aren't going to be better off and retire someday, that they are going to become the dependent poor.
This Obamacare system was sold to us as a bill of goods. Just like all of the other myths. It sounded good, but he couldn't let congress have time to read and study it because some of them would have done the math. We are not going to end up with everyone covered, we are going to end up with only the wealthy, elderly and poor covered, at least until we are all poor and then the whole system will collapse.
We now know what the problem is, but can we stop this?

Reb, don't know where Optimist saw it, but I saw it on Drudge, and it was still there this morning. However, it is gone now, but if you go to the bottom right column on Drudge and click on Recent Drudge Headlines, it is #18 or thereabouts.

I try to encourage self-reliance.
A person can either:
1) Post a question here about the link, then wait 13 hours hoping for a response, if any.
2) google 'obamacare, 20,000 irs' and immediately have the answer within a second or two.
People accustomed to being spoon-fed for their entire lives are a PITA.
Such behavior should not be encouraged or rewarded.

This article and others completely misrepresent the regulations. The IRS was merely making an assumption as to cost to show how to do the calculations. They were not saying that the cost of the policy WOULD BE $20,000. In fact, the regulation clearly states that this is an EXAMPLE.
That would be like saying that according to the regulation, you will be making $120,000 next year, because it used that figure as an example.
#13 Feb 6, 2013
If I'm not mistaken $20,000/year is for a family of 4 not individually. It's closer to $4,000 - $5,000 per person per year, which is still too much in comparison to what I'm paying now. Also, there are subsidies paid for people or families who are at 200% the poverty level or lower, which is roughly $75,000-$78,000.

If ANYONE thinks $20,000 for a basic family policy is reasonable, then they need to have their head examined. Maybe Obamacare will cover psychiatric visits! So according to the above comment, if a family makes $80,000, then they are going to spend 25% of the GROSS pay on insurance. Who they hell can afford that.

Obamacare was never intended to be "reasonable", or to provide health insurance.
It's intent is to deprive the stupid and the poor, of ANY health care.
It's a cull.
A thinning of the herd.
There's no longer enough medical resources, or food, to go around.
And exactly like a rancher who cannot feed his herd and sends them to slaughter, the elites who own this country are sending the poor and stupid to slaughter.
The difference being, the rancher's cattle have no choice, but the poor and stupid actually voted to be eradicated.
