<quoted text> So then are you a Marshall supporter now?
Any chance for tax office improvement has now gone down the drain.

Ms Marshall has been with the tax office for 8 years? Not certain of the time.

Ms Bailey has zero years with the tax office, am certain of that time.

MS Marshall feels she is ready to make the move to commissioner, based on her tax office experience.

Ms Bailey feels she is qualified because "sometone told her to run".

If Ms Marshall wins the runoff, all business within the tax office will continue as it does now, with bad feelings and rudeness, as reported by the CourtHouse employee ...plus hit and miss collections and foreclosures.

Is Ms Bailey wins the runoff, she has to personally face Ms Marshall each and every day.

In this scenario, I will be selling front row seats for the main event.

Becky Marshall HAS in fact worked in the tax office for 8 years. I should know. I worked there for 5 of them. There was no drama in the office until Ms. Lambert was "transferred" from the sheriffs department on the first day of Ms. Benetts term. Coincidently, we never had complaints about unanswered phones, poor customer service, or uncollected taxes, until the start of this term. The collection rate was at 97%. The county depends on timely collection and remittance of taxes in order to operate. Becky Marshall knows what has to change and how to do it. You can only do so much when the power is in someone else's hands. The Tax Commissioner has to be firm but fair. Becky Marshall is all of what the Tax Commissioner is supposed to be. When you go to a public office for answers, you deserve to get them. Not a blind pulled down in your face, and employees who won't help you figure out what steps to take. Becky wants to return the tax office to the taxpayers. Come inside, ask to see her. She would be glad to talk to you. I may not be an employee there anymore, but my best wishes go out to them. With Becky Marshall in charge, you can bet the tax office will be run professionally and by a tax commissioner who will actually work more than the required hours to do so. Please realize, this is not a popularity contest, or a beauty pageant. A smile will only go so far. If you don't know what you are doing or talking about, it will only end up being a stupid grin.

I've come to the conclusion that Graybeard (AKA Bob) does nothing but sit on the computer all day trying to convince everyone else who sits on the computer all day that he is the supreme commander of what does and does not happen in Gilmer County.

With what I've read of his postings on the many various forums, he's an Idiot, plain and simple.

By the way, Bob: When you woke up this morning, did you hear that 'pop' before you got out of bed???? Well, that was you pulling your head out of your as$.

I have also worked with Ms. Lambert, she is a hot head. Extremely high temper. There was always stress.

In my humble opinion, this is the finest relpy I have read on the tax office subject.

I believe we all want the same thing, good service plus dedicated tax collection to help the county budget. To do this, the "correct" commissioner must be steering the ship.

I must admit, I was taken back one time, when observing Ms Marshall with a customer. Thought her actions were "too strong".

That being said, this position is not a popularity contest or beauty pageant, as you have said ..... as I have also said.

We are down to 2 candidates, I will vote for the experience, not the smile.

I am a supreme commander, I am an idiot, I have my head up my ass, my name is Bob ..... anything else you would like to add before you are placed back into your restraints?

No restraints here, as$ wipe. But you definitely need to restrain your big mouth, especially on things you know nothing about.
By the way: I'm glad that at least you know the truth when you READ it. You certainly can't speak it on any of these forums.
Have a good day.

Final observation on the tax commissioner position.

I really believe most of us would like to see Gilmer flourish, once again. No, it will never be a Canton or Roswell, bu that is not the final objective, is it?

Whomever is elected for the office of tax commissioner, the spotlight will be on them, because our county needs every legal buck it deserves from the tax paying public. Gilmer also needs every legal buck from those Gilmer property owners who have made the conscious decision not to pay their taxes. That will be the tougher part of the job for the tax commissioner, but it must be done. Recall when Melba Bennett stated she would not go after back taxes .... that should have been her one way ticket out of Gilmer politics, but it wasn't. I don't want to see that type of irresponsibility again, neither do Gilmer taxpayers.

For the tax commissioner to do the job she was hired to do, her background must be clean, so anyone "looking" for a skeleton in the closet will find the closet empty. She will have to "hit the ground running" on day one of her term. There can not be any "one on one" deals with taxpayers .... if a payment plan is made available, it has to be the one an only payment plan available for ALL taxpayers. She has to be dedicated to turn the negatives turned into positives. She has to be accountable to the public.

Finally, she must have the trust of the people, the taxpayers.

Imagine this, you hire a good financial investor / adviser, you give the financial investor / adviser your hard earned money for him to invest. Now he has your money, you trust him .... all is well. Good times are coming.

Then you discover he has or had ties with Bernie Madoff.

I saw what Mr Paris wanted to do, I read what Becky wants to do, I read Chelas ad and I get confused as to what she wants to do. She did say she pays her taxes, meaning Becky does not.

She did say her experience as a criminal whatever will make it beter for her to collect taxes. How?

We are down to one of the two who wll take on this job.

Watch like a hawk, all you "locals" and outsiders, watch every day how this job will be handled to get tax money back into Gilmer.
