Ellijay Deli has great sandwiches; the Davis house has good meat and veggy(order from menu or buffet;Longhorn has good food; Papa's Pizza has all you can eat buffet that is very tasty and at a reasonable price. Sue's Log cabin has very good food. I love their fried chicken(don't know about other meats, as I always get the chicken. Place that I would never eat at is China City, or something like that, because of their poor inspection #'s.

Good places to eat that have good health department ratings:

Downtown area:
Cornerstone Cafe
Cantaberry's

Just outside downtown:
Mikes on 282 just past DQ
Sue's Log Cabin Restaurant further out 282....buffet lunch only
White columns...Piggly Wiggly shopping center....not everyone's favorite but I like it....the food is always hot and tasty.
Some people like Charlie's on Hwy 515 just north of Mc D's.
Hot and Cold buffet in Walmart area
Shane's BBQ Walmart area
Wolf Creek BBQ Maddox Drive about .3 miles from 515
BigUns BBQ south on Hwy 515 just into Pickens County
IHOP and Longhorn near Walmart
Ruby Tuesday if you like a lot of black pepper
Okinawa Habachi in Ingle's shopping center

I agree with what the above poster stated. We love BigUns on the way up 515. I prefer it 100% over the more famous place,(although they do have some other good items besides the pork)

We love charlies too.

Bigguns is awesome, if you're in Jasper. I 1000% agree.

I love the Hot & Cold. I just do. It's clean and the Spring Rolls are the stuff my dreams are made of.

I like Tony's and Sues for home cooking. I hear Mikes is just as good, never been there.

I love Mucho's and El Burrito to Go for mexican. The japanese place (Okinawa ) is really good and I love their crazy crab roll and others but its certainly not cheap.

Some of the above recommend Hot and Cold but I wasnt impressed and after these reviews they got a 60 on their health score for awhile.

Mikes and Davis House for home cooking
Ruby Tuesdays for favorite chain resturant
Happy Family Chinese
Mucho or El rey for Mexican
Petes Place in Blue Ridge is good

Now that is just my opinion

We are weekenders here for the past 7 months or so. My favorite so far are the tamales from El Burito. They make them every morning, from scratch, and sell out by noon or so, but you can call them the night before and order a bunch for the next AM. I have eaten a lot of good Mexican food, and these are at the top of my list.

If this poster had not mentioned the Pourhouse, I would have completely overlooked it and said the smoked wings at Shane's are the best. However, I must agree that the wings at the Pourhouse are tops.
Cajun Depot Grill and Cantabury's are also very good eatery's.

. You might like El Burrito but their health scores are not always great. Also have seen the owner and her son blowing/rubbing their noses and not washing their hands before serving food to customers!!!!!! YUK!!!!!

I just ate at the burrito place in the BP across from Dairy Queen, and I will have to say they were the hands down BEST burritos I have ever eaten. I have had mexican food all across the south, including Texas, and wow, that was delicious!! I'm not sure what made it so good. There seemed to be some kind of cilantro sauce mixed in with all the other ingredients. DELICIOUS!(and it made two meals for me..one burrito!)
