Gilmer County friends, If you don't want Drones buzzing over your head soon contact your County Commissioners immediately.

Not only Drones but EXPERIMENTAL Drones. I don't know what would ever posses so called Local Leaders to invite such an idiotic enterprise to Gilmer County but they are trying to bring it here.

I don't want ANY experimental aircraft flying over my home drones or otherwise.

If the County Commissioners and the So called Airport Advisory Panel,, You know the guys who ran off the only business at the airport and keep wasting your tax dollars to support a dead airport, do not get a lot of heat from you, the voters, the drones will be here soon.

Because the very act of observing me establishes a hierarchy of them over me (no pun intended) and them having control over my life, when our constitution clearly states otherwise.

My privacy, what I have left, is what i have to hide. Your comment way of thinking is what has led us up to where we are today. If you have nothing to hide, pass out your social security number, checking account, personal finances, debit card pin number and any other personal item that you currently hide from other individuals for us to everyone in a comment below. I promise we will not use it for any purpos othre than to observe your income, debts, properties or anything else pertinent to you. I mean, you have nothing to hide right?

You have failed to realized not only the privacy ramifications of these, but also financial as well. Do your research on these before making uneducated, snide remarks about not having anything to hide therefore you should just let ANYONE, especially someone you don't know into your personal space.

As a veteran of the Iraq war (2001-2010) I would HIGHLY recommend that we NOT use ANY kind of drone that was used on the battle field, on our home turf. For your education, here are a few video that you need to watch to understand just what the RQ-7B Shadow 200
really is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AAI_RQ-7_Shadow

And for you naysayers, including but not limited to Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), UNEQ Consulting Group and Gilmer County Airport Advisory Board, who say that these "...aren't like the UAV's that carry bombs in Iraq...", I call your bluff and see you 30. These are the very same recon vehicles that carry the 81mm 10-pound air-dropped guided mortar. As of August 2011, the Marine Corps has received official clearance to experiment with armed RQ-7s, and requires AAI to select a precision munition ready for deployment. AAI was awarded $10 million for this in December 2011, and claims a weapon has already been fielded by the Shadow.

So, do you still feel confident in your argument of "If you have nothing to hide, why are you worried?

George, normally I agree 100% with you, but this time I think greater outside government observation may be very thing to break up the good old boy local government financial hole we are in.

Drones have nothing to do with that.... and there are many negative aspects that drones bring.

As far as good ole boy corruption in Gilmer County ... The Governor, the Ga State Atty's office and the State DOE have received many many documents alluding to corruption and all three of these offices have demonstrated they do not care what happens in Gilmer County. So it is unfortunate unless there is a serious change in attitude toward corruption somewhere that Gilmer will fumble along until finally corruption and incompetence bankrupt the County.

Jason i hope we can break down the barriers of ignorance, and disinterest enough to get folks attention and stop this nonsense, but it doesn't look good right now. Randy Bell and a handful of we who think drones are a bad idea in our community are the only hope we have of stopping this.

How would Gilmer like it if they found out that these drones were after their guns?

What's bad is that two of the Commissioners (JC Sanford and Danny Hall) seem willing to put the Constitution up for sale for the low, low price of $500 per day. Surely the Constitution is worth more than that. Bell is the only one making any sense. If JC and Danny vote for the drones, they will never get reelected and that's probably a good thing.

The way I heard it explained, one is so stubborn he'd destroy the country rather than change his mind, and the other is so confused that he'll vote for whatever side talks to him last.

At least JC and Danny are trying to bring some revenue to the County. Bell has always been againt everything. If he has his way Gilmer will shrivel up and die. Jack Smith, Gilmers most patriotic citizen ( and I hope next Chairman) carefully screened and approved of the testing. Thats good enough for me.

JC and Danny will never be reelected drone or no drone. Dead Goose is right one is dumb and the other is dumber. He's also right about Danny the last voice he hears is the one he's for, I think maybe he fell out of to many trees.
