Local school routinely outperforms all other schools in the area in test scores/academics. About 750 kids in K-12. Small class sizes, low teacher pupil ratio compared to other area schools.

Don't let the test scores blind you since they are fixed. Send your children to the county school system.....They have a lot more to offer and not nearly as clicky as Dawson folks. And if you are not born and bred in Dawson your kid will never fit in here.

I don't agree with you, we just moved here a little over a year and half ago and both my children are in high school, and seem to be fitting in quite well here. We planned on moving some place else but after looking into the school and talking to people we chose to move here and so far things have been GREAT. As for the fixed tests scores, highly unlikly, but I guess if it helps explain why your kids are the way they are and for you to sleep at night, then by all means use the fixed test scores excuse

I don't know who Alexis S is. I am Alexis Seymore, the superintendent of our school system in Dawson Springs. I will contact Topix early tomorrow and also our attorney. Alexis S has committed the technological equivalent of a "drive-by shooting." Using someone else's name is fraudulent. I would never say anything derogatory about our school system. FactsRFacts has reported the situation accurately. We routinely outperform all of the other school systems in this area. In addition,I can cite instance after instance where students moved here from other places, were totally accepted, excelled, graduated, and went on to do very well. You obviously don't know anything about how tests are administered. Let me assure you and everyone reading this, they are not fixed. We have to go to great lengths to make sure the testing process is absolutely above reproach in every way. Whoever Alexis S is--you are entitled to your opinion no matter how much it differs from mine, but don't try to make people think that I am the one posting derogatory comments about our school system. That's pretty cowardly!

This post is for Alexis S. I sent a copy of your post about our school system and my reply to you to our school board attorney this morning. He is checking previous case law and will get back with me when he has an answer as to how we should proceed against you.

Perhaps you should buy the book titled "How to Win Friends and Influence People". You could certainly benefit from its wisdom.

I am proud of our school and Alexis Seymore has always been professional and helpful. I do not know how anyone can say the test scores are fixed,we just have more dedicated staff and teachers, any problem that I have had at school has been taken care of when I brought it to the attention of a faculty member. I have 3 children in school here and they have not ever had a problem fitting in.If you have a problem at school I know from experience if you set up an appointment with the teacher or principal they will be more than helpful.I know that the test scores can't be fixed because when I study with my children at home the know the answers to the questions so the tests don't need to be fixed. I have taught them that good grades are the result of hard work.

I've gone to dawson springs since i was in 1st grade, every school has their little problems, but Dawson Springs is an overall wonderful school, the teachers are nice and the classes aren't so big the teacher doesn't have time to talk to you.If you were looking for a school to go to in this area, i'd highly recommend Dawson Springs Independent School.

Why don't the Dawson people give it up. Don't they realize what all they are missing by not being in the county system?...Look how much they have already lossed. I had heard that the lady sup was looking for a job away from here cause the writing is on the wall...Bout time..Wake up people....It is 2010 and you Dawson folks still keep your lesbian staff in th closet....LIKE WE DON"T KNOW......LOL....

There are gay people all over the world,so whats your point and as far as the lesbian staff, that's non of my concern as long as they keep it out the classroom. Why do people make it their business who people sleep with. Some people need to grow up and get a grip.

I am not a lesbian or a school teacher but both are obviously a lot smarter than you are and by the way if I were a lesbian I would not care who knew about it peoples private life are none of your business,I guess you were not smart enough to go to Dawson,we all know you are prejudice against gay people and can't spell. What are you teaching your kids? Gay bashing?

If you go to Dawson School, everyone knows that it matters what your last name is in order to what you get by with. The teachers have their favorites. It matters if you play sports or not on what grade you get or the punishment or any punishment at all you get. If your parents are poor then you get left out of the circle. They have good test scores, sure. But if you don't make the grades and live out of the city, they find some way to get you out of school. Parents think again before you let your kids go to this school.

Finally somebody has the nerve to say it.....Consolodate with the county would put an end to the social politics that keep the community schools from growing and getting better teachers and more classes offered. If it is such a wonderful place then why is old lady Supt looking for jobs to get out of here?......Dah?.....

If you live outside the city, then your kid should be going to Caldwell, Christian, or Central anyway, which is what you are proposing. So the question is, why are you complaining? You apparently wanted to have your child in this school system to begin with. Why? If you don't have a child in school, then why would you care one way or the other? Students with good grades and those who work hard and stay out of trouble are not mis-treated, wherever they go to schoool.
