Does anyone know when Matt graduated from WHS? I think he may have gone to school with my daughter and was a very well-liked young man then as I am sure he is now.

He is a good coach dont get me wrong but he has a negative attitude towards the players. He cusses at the players on the field, and as a teacher at pioneer,I think he should not be able to teach anymore

WAKE UP WOODLAND!!! This was a total inside job. There was no mass email sent out and Bryson just got the job because the principal didn't want to have to fight the CTA. Everyone knows he doesn't have the experience IN FOOTBALL.... We as a community need to step up and take back our High Schools. Pioneer will be right there with WHS in the next year or so on the low performing list. Numbers don't lie.... Let's do something productive in our high schools, starting with hiring people who are qualified to lead our kids in and out of the classroom.

How special. Now could we get to the real purpose of Pioneer High? Getting an education?

Congrats to Pioneer on this great hire! Every first year head Coach does not have experiance. But Bryson has been a head coach at the lower levels where he had great results. Not to mention the head job for baseball for many years. The kids will have a great time learning from him, and the future is bright!
Good luck to Coach Butter, we will miss you! Go Pats, and kick some wolf butt!

We at PHS are so lucky!!! Coach Bryson is a class-act! It is time for the Pioneer sports program to step up.
We have a great school- and with Coach Bryson leading the football program- we will shine!
Go Patriots!

Yeah I have to agree somewhat with a previous poster about this being an inside job, but thats woodland, besides outside folk don't stay very long do they ?

This kid can coach. Its highschool ball for godsake. How many woodland football players were drafted by the NFL in the last 10 yrs ?

He's already making the right moves by going back to the single wing/wing " T " offense.

you build a suitable offense around the personel you have - which he is doing.

there is so much info available to a young coach nowadays nothing is sacred, its how you relate to the players and handle the Al Bundy fathers that make a good coach.

Both my sons played for Bryson as freshmen and it was a great experience for both of them. I support him wholeheartedly and given the experiences that one of my sons had with the previous crew, I would take Bryson any day of the week. So "Community Supporter"...come on down!

Congratulations, Matt!!!

All I know is my son's freshman year was a disaster. The coaching was terrible. I believe it was the first time he did not enjoy football. Then last season his sophmore year under Coach Bryson he won his first championship and without question enjoyed playing football again.I for one am glad he is getting this opportunity and certainly believe he deserves it. Congrats Coach!

Congratulations, Matt! You will do a great job with the kids, as always!

For all the negative comments said, WHATEVER! GET OVER IT...inside job or not, they got the right man for the job! Bryson is a class act and is very well liked. The only thing that will bring him down is the negative people that have to say stupid things.

get a real coach that can beat real teams, get a coach that will treat all kids the same, not just the ones he knows, because he knows there dads, or because they played base ball for him, get a coach who has no ties to the school, get a coach who will not will kiss anyone's butt, get a coach who respects all coaches, and not back stab other coaches to gain his little brownie points, i will support any coach that deserves the Varsity position not a wanna bee coach, this guy has made it off of other coaches success and talent, i wish all the kids at PHS luck, but when it comes to hiring a real coach you have made a mistake, this guy is as fake as they come.
Why don't you use your real name? Why do you hide behind a computer and call people out ? If you can do a better job then make your voice be heard.

Of course its an inside job. He has been with the district for a long time and showed he can do the job. He is very well liked and is an asset to our school system. Would you rather have some schmoe that no one knows????

Congratulations Coach Bryson!

There's always a couple of naysaying Dad's or other Coaches that won't like a good Coach. Daddies that can't let their kid play for anyone but them...or don't like their little poopy butt baby not getting the star position.

I read the critics...and its all jealousy and wannabe Coaches and Dad's that didn't like getting told their Coaching days are over....

Pioneer High will be dominant and play well...and quickly under this Coach...

The whiners can go play at Woodland Charter Sc---oops It's Woodland High still till next year...

Congrats to Bryson, he was the best person to hire for the position. He knows the game, he knows his personnel and he knows the Wing-T back and forth. I'm a Woodland guy and I'm happy for him, he deserves the job.
Inside job eh? You do know that before considering outside applicants that people who work in the district have priority on extra curricular jobs right? How is he not the right choice? Pioneer's best years were under a WELL RUN Wing-T and now they are going back to it. He has had a laundry list of successful seasons, two of which with the kids who are going to be his seniors this fall. I hope the best for Matt and look forward to Week 10.

In response to Cover Up seriously plotting behind his coaches backs? Who do you think was out there helping them get started. Bryson is one of many that want to see the program do well. I can tell by your remarks that you have not been around the program long or not at all. Coach Bryson has always supported his coaches and has been a mentor to many of them. He cares deeply about the program and the kids that are involved in it. He puts the kids best interest before his. Let's remember while winning is important so are the kids. If the kids can walk away with a good understanding of the game and a great experience then the coach did his job. We are talking about whats best for the kids and by far that is Coach Bryson. Don't worry cover up this coach will blame himself before he blames his team that's the kind of coach he is. Bottom line Coach Bryson by far was the best man for the job and I wish him continued success in the football program he helped build.

Hey cover up, why don't you use your real name? Do you have something to hide? As for having a child in in football no I don't. If you don't like the wing-t tell me why and if it's so simple to defend against, why do football teams still use it? What do you suggest?

Kids Best Interest: No Kids need to walk away with experience of life, learning how to get back up when knocked down, learning how to never give up no matter what, learning how to except responsibility of there action, learning how to be respectful to others, learning that you will have to work for your position not have it given to you, learning how to achieve good grades not only when football season is in but at all times, and learning how to be a real man in real life, thats what kids should be taught, not to expect favors because a coach known a kids dad, not having kids sit on the sidelines after they have worked there butts off at practice, stop using kids as dummy s for your favorite players to beat up on during practice, if you can achieve that maybe you might have a successful season.

So let the conspiracy theories start. What happend did you not get any playing time when you were a little kid? And I'm still waiting for your anwser on why you think the Wing-T won't work.
