Do not make excuses for potential killers...A person CHOSE to drink and then get behind the wheel...CHOSE to speed...CHOSE to leave the scene of a crash....

If he ends up going to jail or prison and not seeing his child grow up...the ONLY person he has to blame is himself...he made the choice to drink and drive and he should thank his lucky stars that the crash did not result in the death of a human being...someone who may also be a father and could have been taken away from his family forever...

Lack of a phone, if he did not have one(the article does not say) does not excuse any of his actions...he should have stayed with his victim, exchanged information, and waited for police...of course that would have meant admitting what he had done...

One last thought...Would you offer up such excuses if the roles had been reversed and the victim of the crime was someone you care about?...My guess...probably not...
whatever

You have him convicted and sentenced already?

Erika, exactly what kind of sanction constitutes a 'long time?'

When we all received our drivers license from the DMV we all signed that we would abide by the Ca Vehicle Code. The code states that the drivers involved in an accident will not leave the scene...it does not state anything about having a phone...the report is that your boyfriend fled the scene after causing the accident...He should have thought about the risks before he decided to drive impaired, allegedly...and he should have known better than to flee the scene of an accident. I have no sympathy for him. He made his choices.

WOW really not watch his son grow, what if he killed someone, what about thier sons or daughters. Dude needs to be locked up. No one put a gun to his head and said, DRIVE DRUNK. And the whole phone comment, REALLY? Shouldnt have driven away from the accident. And you two bred? Some people shouldnt be allowed the privilage. jees man and you say Poor jose, you know how many dead people ive pulled out of car wrecks, where some "poor jose" caused the wreck and walked away without a scratch. SHUT the F@#$ up. Stupid. Wont get to see his son grow, are you serious? Should have wrapped his car around a telephone pole and died. Like anyone he could have KILLED, while driving drunk. I hope little jose gets to know his dad REAL GOOD. Freakin morons. and you have kids, way to teach them the right thing to do. Real good parenting
