Dining for $25 or less: Brian Boru

Full story: Baltimore Sun

Two well-regarded Irish restaurants - Galway Bay in Annapolis and Killarney House in Davidsonville - have recently acquired a sibling in the form of Brian Boru, which opened in September in Severna Park.

Just yesterday 3/14/08 I ordered some carry out from Brian Boru in Severna Park after I got off of work.I ordered the Guiness fried oyster's and the Brian Boru salad.I was very disapointed with both when I got home to eat! For $20.00 I paid total for these items, it did not even fill me up.The oysters themselves were ok, but very few.The cole slaw was terrible, and I threw it away. The salad, which I ordered a small and they gave me a large was horrible. It was like eating different leaves from off trees and even with some salad dressing they gave me which I had ordered vinegar and oil did not taste very good. For a salad that cost $8.95 it was not worth $3.00.It had a couple of cucumbers, very little onions,a couple of raw mushrooms and the rest was like leaves of of a local tree.It was not cold, and was very lite in weight for a large salad. It had no lettuce and a couple of little cherry tomatoes.I will not be going to this resturant any time soon, unless they reimburse me for the $19.90 they charged me for this terrible meal.Maybe you could get them to reimburse me for this horrible food. This is the third time I have ordered carryout from this resturant in the past 3 weeks and none of the food has inpressed me at all.The corn beef sandwich with swiss cheese was very small for almost $12.00 a couple of weeks ago I ordered.Next time I will go to Ann's Dairy in Glen Burnie for some good old footlongs and milk shakes and at least it won't cost me an arm and a leg and I will be filled up.I am going to call the resturant when I get time and let them know about my experience with there carry out food and hopefully they will put some weight into there salads.Maybe you could contact the resturant and get my money reimbursed for this horrible food.I would appreciate it very much.Maybe I would try one of there sirloin burgers.

Sincerely,

A very disappointed carryout customer!

HI,

I just wanted you to know that I got a carry out order from Brian Boru in Severna Park, Md.and it was horrible for $19.90.I ordered the Guiness fried oysters and a BB salad. The oysters were tasty but very little of them. The cole slaw that came with the oysters was very small and no taste at all.The BB salad I ordered was also horrible. Both platter's were very light and the salad had green's in it I never seen before. They looked like leaves off a local tree from outside. The salad had a couple of raw mushrooms and 2 little slices of cucumber and a couple of cherry tomatoes and a tiny bit of onions.I wanted vinegar and oil for this salad and they gave me some horrible salad dressing I didn't want. Both platters were very light and the salad was not cold and for a large salad it probally didn't weight an ounce.I wish it was someway you could get me reimbursed for this horrible meal for $19.90.I had to eat hot dogs after this meal, because there were very few oysters and very little salad for a large salad.I should have went to Ann's dairy for a footlong and milk shake, at least I would have been fulled up and only spent $6.25.I'm very disappointed and probally will call the resturant today about the terrible food and prices for this food.I don't mind spending money on food, but at least give me enough food to fill my palate at this price's Maybe you can get my money reimbursed for this horrible meal.

Sincerely,
