I never did get into the Harry Potter series but I know the excitement and anticipation of a huge release as I am a Star Wars enthusiast (read: geek) and was this excited about the release of the final three/first three (depending on if you're operating in real time or Jedi time) films. This hysteria throughout the world might just inspire me to be a Harry Potter fanatic as well.
