Online petition set up in support of Terry Swails

There are 92 comments on the Bettendorf News story from Jan 18, 2008, titled Online petition set up in support of Terry Swails. In it, Bettendorf News reports that:

“If drivers carried stickers in their trucks, it would create several problems that would be impossible to control.”

Q: I am very concerned after reading Monday's Ask the Times. Although you stated that Terry Swails still is employed as chief meteorologist for KWQC-TV, I can't help but think the whole thing sounds fishy. via Bettendorf News

I have been watching KWQC for many years. Terry Swails knew what he was talking about. Since he has been gone the weather at KWQC has not been as accurate. I know that if Terry Swails does not come back I will no longer be a KWQC watcher. Myself as well as my 4 brothers and sisters, and several of freinds will be watching WQAD unless they bring back Mr. Terry Swails.

Terry- You're the best!!! Don't know what happened but what ever it was you leaving is the reason I WILL NOT watch channel six again- In fact, i used to watch Neil Caster Until I started watching you!!! I switched to ch6. Now I will go back to ch8 and Neil.

You leaving is channel six's and their viewers loss!

I am from Burlington Iowa and have always watched channed 6 news. Now that Terry is gone I will watch another station!!!
I have always liked Terry and met him once up at Sam's and bought his book. I wish him and his family the very best and hope he succeeds in whatever comes his way. He will be missed very much.

I have watched Terry ever since he came to KWQC. I am in the age group when WOC first aired in 1949. KWQC has always been the best station for news and weather. Terry made it the best. His personality showed on screen. I have some personalities I like and others I don't. I know Terry will come out of this with flying colors. Like someone else said in there comments, if you know where Terry is let us all know so we can enjoy him again. Good luck Terry and God bless.

I will miss him too. But I have one question....How many of you out there would rather see Paula Sands go?

Should have kept Terry. The company could have saved money by throwing that idiot Jim Fisher off the property. The old fool (Jim) is hardly a good example for anyone to hear on the air as they pass through the QCA, his use of the english language is a laugh, what a bad joke to play on everyone. Bring Terry back and toss Jim out. Sorry Jim, I know your an old Daddy, again, proving your an old fool. I turn the radio off when Jim or Rush hit the air waves. Bring Terry Back, he is a good guy and it shows, even when he was off the air with an open mic, a good guy.
I agree. He is too old and has been there too long. Way too long.

I heard that Young (people who bought the station) are already in trouble. I heard it is on the verge of bankruptcy.
I still say gt rid of Paula Sands.

I also worked with Terry, and he was a class act - just the opposite of television management. After the Palmer group sold, I think many of us at WOC-KWQC knew this stuff like layoffs and firings were going to happen. I just wish all the other oldtimers at the station the best - and watch your backs. Bob Winkleman is right - a television icon is going by the board.

OLD? How about that Charles? He is old and so is Paula Sands. She has been there longer than Terry. But I still say BRING TERRY BACK!!!

What's going on at Channel 6. Terry Swails is missed more then you know. One replacement after another keeps showing up. No explanation on TV. Who's next? Teresa Bryant? Paula Sands? Come on we loved the last 2 meteorologist & would love to have them back. I don't know the reason why but the news is not the same. I've come to question a lot of things about Channel 6. Moving on to Channel 8. So long

My husband and I stopped watching Channel 6 when we learned Terry was not coming back. Very glad Erik Maitlin got out while the getting was good....hope Mick and Marsha do the same. Should have lost Paula, Gary and Theresa long ago. Channel 8 is our channel now. WISH TERRY THE VERY BEST....HE IS SO DESERVING OF SOMETHING BETTER THAN THOSE JOCKERS.

I sincerely hope Terry is just on a leave. He is the best weather person I have watched in years. His knowledge is right on. If the station dumped him, shame on them. You get what you pay for. Dump the women. One can't even pronounce the word temperature, the other just can't talk perion.

Monkeys will fly out of my ass before I even think of watching those dou--bags at WQAD....Swailer, you'll be just fine...I don't know much about what's going on there but from what I read on the posts, it's not a pretty picture...better that you're away from that negativity and around your family who loves you....I still think Paula's hot...

Oh, and a better plan would have been to get rid of T. Bryant first....I'm still wiping the spittle off my forhead when I used to be BEHIND the the by, have they had to expand the green board yet or has she gotten that under control?

Young Broadcasting is getting what it deserve...dead air time; bad cueing during the Today Show; computerized details on top of the radar graphics so that you cannot see where the storms are. The one thing I can't understand why people feel that Paula, Teresa,or any of the rest of the team should be canned. We the viewers should be able to watch Terry and the whole gang. Maybe corporate should have taken paycuts themselves instead losing key personnel and accurate broadcasting.

Have watched and enjoyed Terry since he started on KWQC. I thought something was suspicious when Eric Maitland left (and is now with FOX, up in the Twin Cities), then they hired Burchett then fired a few others.
Looks like the boat is sinking and the corporate big wigs are sawing off the pontoons.
