Gingrich assails judges as he courts conservatives

There are 22 comments on the www.chicagotribune.com story from Dec 20, 2011, titled Gingrich assails judges as he courts conservatives. In it, www.chicagotribune.com reports that:

As he works to rev up his conservative base in Iowa with just two weeks to go until the state's caucuses, Newt Gingrich is launching a full-throated assault on a reliable GOP target: judges.

There is little love for the judicial branch among the Republicans seeking the White House. But Gingrich's ridicule has been, by far, the sharpest and the loudest. And it's taken a central role as his campaign struggles to stay atop polls in Iowa, a state where irate social conservatives ousted three judges who legalized same-sex marriage.

"The targets of Gingrich's strongest derision: the West Coast's 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, a perennial punching bag for the right..."

of COURSE the article FAILS to mention that over 60% of the 9th's decisions have been overturned...

don't want to give the folks the WHOLE story, do we???

Sure, thats what he need. He wants to give Congress the ability to arrest Judges who decision is not like by the President or Congress.

And he says he hates big government? So why give the other to branches even more power.

Sorry, but that's so UN-AMERICAN it's scary.

Regardless, you want to give the President the ability to arrest judges he doesn't agree with? How would you like that power when a left-wing Dem has the reigns?

C'mon, tell us YOUR whole story. Are you ok with Newton Leroy's wish to increase the powers of the Oval Office?

regardless that we have the major news media conveniently omitting the parts of the story that DON'T further their ideology?

gingrich brought up a VERY valid argument...if you bother to READ what i posted, i NEVER said i agree with his approach...
i commented on the biased reporting!
i don't particularly think gingrich's approach is correct, but i DO agree SOMETHING should be done to address the issue that there is WAY too much legislating from the bench. if you don't see a problem there, it's ONLY because their legislating agrees with YOUR ideology.
if the 9th circuit court of appeals was as far right, as they are left, you'd be screaming like the little girl you are!

in the meantime, might i suggest you try a reading comprehension course ...

The dictatorship of the Judicial branch must be stopped if America is to be a free nation where our future is decided by the ballot box-not by judicial masters.

I completely agree with what Gingrich is saying about activist judges. He is not proposing to change the way any judge could be impeached. What's wrong with asking a judge what part of the constitution or law that they have taken an oath to uphold did they us to base a particular decision on. I wouldn't think any judge would have a problem with explaining themselves unless they cannot cite the part of the constitution or law they are basing their decisions and rulings on.

Maybe the legislative branch (Federal and State) should start writing laws that are clear, specific and not subject to much interpretation. If the did so there would be less need for regulations (CFR) and the executive and judicial branch would not need to determine the "intent of Congress".
Never happen, legislators, past and present want to blame judges or the president for their inability to pass laws for the good of the country. It is difficult to know if other branches of government are that bad when Congress is Sooooo bad.

This country has three equal branches of government. What country are you thinking of, Cletus?

All any minimally liberal judge would have to do in the event of a Newt Presidency is hire a young, female sex worker to clerk for him or her and then fix Newt up with her if things get hairy over a decision.

Newton Leroy lovers love this idea, until the person doing the firing of judges for taking a opinion they do not like, is a Dem.

This folks, is a dangerous stance to take for any democracy.

We separate the 3 branches for balance. Real conservatives (non t-baggers) agree with all us sensible people.

This is not something that's wanted.

So if the replacement Judge decides to come up with the same opinion will Newton Leroy fire that one also.

So now the new Judge will feel pressured to make the ruling the Speaker of the House or the President wants to hear.

Why would anyone think this is a good idea?

All three branches of government allow for the impeachment of its members.Presidents and Vice Presidents can be impeached.Senators and Congressmen can be removed from office through recalls or even by acts of the Senate or House of Reps. The same with Governors of the states and judges of the Judicial branch can be impeached by Congress. For anyone to suggests that the people are stuck with a President or member of Congress once elected is wrong.Especially judges many of whom have lifetime appointments.Anybody with a basic understanding of our Federal system of government as described in the Constitution knows this.Do you?

Your wife and religion and position swapping moron wasn't talking about recalling judges. He was talking about having US Marshalls arrest them.

And don't pretend, liar, that your earlier post didn't invoke a political system in which the judicial branch is subservient. Which is your ignorant point I was correcting.

Gonna make me go back and reply to your idiotic post in question again?

'What is Dangerous Bachmann thinking she would have the power to blow up another country and be excited about it! Now THAT is scary.

You can see that look in her eyes, like she can’t wait to go and bomb Iran.

Scary stuff, very scary.

Ron Paul is the sensible one.'

The thing is, is that if he got rid of left leaning judges, then a Dem becomes the president and gets rid of right leaning judges. It opens the door for the president and the Congress to control the judicial system. It's a good balance to have some who are conservative and some who are liberal. You can't have it all one way. Look at the case, the argument here. Newt would demand the Ninth Circuit explain why they don't want "Under God" in the pledge. Now you have the left dragging every scientist and philosopher, humanities expert, biology expert to explain that gods were made up my early men, that religions were made up, that gods are not real, that believing in god is actually considered a mental illness according to philosophers, that humans evolved from chimpanzees, on and on it would go, until it would simply be proven that it is insane to say a country lives under god when gods do not exist. It would cost all of this money, take about a year of arguing the existence of gods. This is so Newt. He comes out with these outrageous things that he thinks he can hands down win because he can't think things thru. He just assumes he is right, but he's not smart enough to even think about the real debate as to whether or not gods exist and who would win that argument. The scientists would win and the public would simply become more aware of real things, of reality.

Yup, here's the ignorant filth who gets upset when his idiocy is called out. He asked for a review, so here's his ignorant post. Then he whines that his ignorance wasn't even addressed to me, as though I intruded upon a personal text message of his or something.

Hey moron: Three equal branches. The Bill of Rights is minoritarian. Newt is talking about arresting judges, not recalling or un-electing or even impeaching them.

Okay, cretin?
