Dont Trust Leopold

Leopold needs to keep his hands off trying to control our elected Sheriff. Leopold, the COPA socio-progressive has hidden agendas. We need to make sure our Sheriff does not "owe" this scheister anything. An independent Sheriff is a must. As a matter of fact, give the Sheriff his facility. Have a bond measure on the ballot. And also...get rid of Leopold. Betty Danner would have been a better choice with her criminal justice council background.

Leopold is cancer.

Seismic safety and periodic flooding should be also considered. Rodeo Gulch Ridge or ridge behind Cabrillo would be ideal.

The only prose in the whole article that made any sense.

"..........The precise location of a new sheriff's office and where the money will come from to build it are yet to be determined.........."

Bummer. Good luck with that!

"..........have long bemoaned the fact that deputies work out of the city of Santa Cruz, which isn't their jurisdiction........."

That's what happens when you let unincorporated areas sprawl & grow in an unintelligent manner.

Any thoughts about the Skyview Drive-In property on Soquel Drive?

Employees first, redevelopment second.

This is a financially difficult time that should reflect financial restraints.

Grants are funds taken from taxpayers, not free money.

This vision is not justified, more of a pipe dream.

we already have a sheriffs station in live oak, across from shoreline middle school.if there is money out there shouldnt it be spent on training or youth prog.our sheriffs need to gain the trust of the community in live oak.no new state of the art equipment will do that for them, some training on how to deal with victims and perpetrators would do wonders dont you think.

How about building the new sheriff's station out by the Rountree county jail off Buena Vista Road between Watsonville and Aptos? There seems to be plenty of open land there, and nobody to see the prisoners in handcuffs except for seagulls coming and going from the adjacent landfill. And they're used to seeing garbage.

As a retired Santa Cruz County deputy sheriff, I wholeheartedly support Sheriff Wowak's desire for his agency to have their own building in county jurisdiction.

I do believe that a small substation for patrol deputies could be located next the main county jail also, which is operated by the Sheriff. This would allow for a quicker response to calls from the residents north of the City of Santa Cruz.

Sincerely,

I have a dream also, for a brand new awesome house right in the middle of lower West side so I can easily drive to where I need to go.

Now I just need to go get other people's money to pay for my new dream house, kind of like Wowak does.

I love government spending!!! Here, take all the money from my wallet to spend on our dreams.

I agree with Steve Carr. Only being a liveoak-ean,
I'd love to see it right in the middle of gang infested live oak near the 17th ave area somewhere.

I'd support this annually by donating to the cause.

Hey Senuile! You forgot to tell thetaxpoayters how much this facility wioll cost them!!!!!!!!!!

MUst be plenty of money for a new multi-million dollar Sheriff facility. With the end of the recession according to the Obama/Bidden "Summer of Recovery Tour" touting the end of the recession with our full and complete economic recovery, full employment and reduction of taxes as promised by our retread/retard Democrat Ex CA Governor, new governor elect Jerry Moonbeam Brown and his supporters the public employee unions, anything is now economically greenlighted!

Don't hold your breath.

The SCPD Police Palace which cost 50 zillion dollars right in the downtown area near Laurel doesn't seem to have much impact on all the gang activity in the area.

The SCPD station is sort of like the "green zone" in Baghdad. Everything beyond the wall is a "free for all".

Just look at all the filth & crud in the downtown area.

Can't wait to see what "public art" and it's cost the liberal progressive board of supervisor's put into this. I want to see thier budget for that, as well as signs as to what pound of flesh they will take from the elected Sheriff to get this. Dance Sheriff, dance (for the BOS). What's next? A county version of Zack Friend / spy from the progressive democrat committee inserted/embedded into the indepedantly elected autonomous Sheriff's Office?

I would only support it if it came out of Wall Street taxpayer bonus money.(I mean Wall Street retention awards).

Sounds like a great idea to me. Having had to go downtown to have my kid interviewed so we could put away a pedophile, I witnessed first-hand just how cramped and on top of each other the Sheriffs are. Consolidating everything under one roof seems like it'd save on billable hours, gas money, all sorts of small nickle-and-dime stuff that really adds up. Quicker response time is valuable too, especially in that area.

I WOULD really like it if the eventual (if it happens) building uses local talent to build it and keep the $$$ here.

It's time they catch up to the technology available to them and their community. If they can't get their deserved pay increase then their community should get the benefits of the new tools that are available. The deputies don't even have voicemail and that came out decades ago. Support your Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department.
