The rail trail gang must be having a hissy fit after hearing two thirds of the 32 mile rail line does not have clear title and only a small portion of the line may be used for a trail if the county decides to build one after establishing passenger rail service.

theyll have a BIGGER fit-as people "in the know" expect the tracks to be torn out-right of way abandoned-n land sold and used for other purposes-as per the general plan.but not as a thru way-tho some sections may remain a trail of sorts

the rest will be built on-or used as ag land buffers or berms.

end of the line-by by hobo highway!

the track is umaintable-trestles old-no profit for freight-too much cost to upgrade to passenger

there IS HOPE RAIL TRAIL freaks!!!

come up with the money!!! to buy the line!(maybe a bike tax of donation drive to fund it. bikes would pay a fee to enter the trail perhaps

!!!-quit depending no the state/feds(taxpayer)

You said: "no profit for freight"

Actually, the Sierra Northern freight operation on the branch line is profitable.

If you took the time to read you would understand it is the County that is trying to purchase the right of way, not Sierra Northern.

it still doesnt make sense-why would the county want to blow money buying a line-if the line is already running and making money??//DUH???

no wonder taxpayers are pithed off.

I assume "northern sierra" pays for its(tracks) use..... why pay twice??for a stupid bikepath?

But they haven't approved the $5M (required as a part of the purchase) in maintenance on the newly purchased track. Only in government.
