A tax increase, surely not. It wouldn't be so bad if they would just spend the money responsibly.

The tax rate is backwards and unfair. The owner occupied houses should be at @20% and the secondary houses should be at 10%. The owner occupied houses have kids in the Fairhope system and that's what the money is for. The secondary homes (vacation) homes have their kids in school elsewhere where they pay their school taxes at home.

The argument can be turned both ways Thomas. Normally people who have second or rental homes have either a much higher income or more $$$ in the bank, and the democrats think those people should pay more in taxes.

It's really an attempt for the local good ole boys to have someone/anyone cough up money for the education system---- except them. Why not just add another penny on the sales tax for EVERYONE to share raising the revenue twelve months a year. Now that's fair!

It wouldn't be nearly as bad if they (as in all governmental bodies) would spend the money appropriately instead of wasting it. When times are hard the rest of us tighten up our belts and make our dollars stretch a little farther, but all they do is raise our taxes.

Bad things happen to good people who do nothing. Get a financial statement(public record) and see where the money is going, then expose the waste to the media in the area or sit back and let them continue the waste.
