Official rejects request to pump water to Santa Fe
By Staci Matlock, The Santa Fe New Mexican April 3--A New Mexico hearing examiner recommends denial of a permit to a New York company seeking to pump millions of gallons of groundwater from Catron County in Southwestern New Mexico and make it available to cities including Santa Fe.

So the welfare ranchers were represented by the New Mexico Environmental Law Center, I thought they hated environmentalists. I guess they love handouts more.

Sound like the former State Engineer wasn't paying attention when this application was filed. No surprise. He didn't pay attention to much except his own PR and golfing.
