I want to hear from both sides on whether or not you think medical and/or recreational marijuana should/ should not be legalized. Please, no personal attacks, grammar police, trolls, etc... Just a debate that uses reason, logic, and facts.

It needs to be legal. IT was a government experiment as to why now.Cannabis cures to much. Why not legalize it.So many mentality would change. It would help a cringed world come back to life.I noticed you are judged by a judge to be forced pills .I noticed their system in Evansville .

I think it should be legalized and taxed. I also think that if you get caught driving on it, you should still receive a DUI. I have no problem with people smoking weed as long as they follow the law. With weed staying in your system for 30 days, I'm not sure how an officer would determine when the weed was smoked. If a person was pulled over and suspected of driving under the influence, they could be charged (currently) if weed was smoked by them within the prior 30 days.

You're saying weed "cures" chemical imbalances? LOL!!! That's literally laughable. It may help but it def doesn't cure anything.

Thank you, witness! This is what I wanted, a great argument with fantastic points. I appreciate it.

I actually agree with almost everything here. However, marijuana can actually stay in your system anywhere from 3 days (only ever used marijuana once) to 3 months (heavy marijuana user)- also depending on the route it was taken (smoked, eaten, etc.). I have no clue how the police could check to see if you were under the influence besides the obvious: bloodshot eyes, yellow/green tongue, the smell...

As for the "curing" part of the debate... I must admit, I am unsure about it. Ibuprofen doesn't "cure" a headache, but it sure does help out! I guess it alleviates certain problems and symptoms, but doesn't necessarily "cure" them.

I think if they analyzed marijuana more, they could synthesize the effective chemicals for prescription use. For example, the main chemical found in smoked marijuana is THC, which can be found in pill form. If it has medicinal purposes, then the medical community needs to be in charge of it.
I still think that recreational use should be illegal. I personally don't care if people smoke pot, but I refuse to be around them just as I would someone who is drunk.
Taxation would solve many money issues, but the illegal trade would still thrive to avoid taxation (moonshine?).

You can get THC in almost every form possible- there are pills, skin creams, foods- you name it, they probably have it somewhere. You can only buy these products at dispenseries (in the states where it is legal) but I am not sure if they need an actual pharmacist on hand. I haven't done that much research into it since Indiana does not have medical THC available.

I agree with your point on taxation, but how many people still drink moonshine these days? Maybe on special occasions, but probably not regularly. I hear a lot more about brand name beers than local, hand-brewed beers (unfortunately).

If they did tax marijuana and sold it for recreational use, would people be able to grow their own without any penalty? Or would that be the new moonshining?
