so sick and tired of people blaming the owners.of all these dogs aggressive behavior although there are plenty of incompetent owners out there at some point you have to start blaming the breed

Everything on this planet, including you, is a product of their environment. People have the ability to control this environment, and choose for themselves. Dogs do not.

If you starve a poodle in a crack house, I bet it doesn't turn out to friendly either. Except if someone gets bit by a poodle, they don't report it. if its a pit bull then they sue.

I've had 2 when I was a kid, they were the most loyal, friendly dogs I have ever owned or been around.

Pitbulls are the most kind-smart-sweet-lovable-will protect children-best breed in the whole world. If u knew my sweet harley then you would never hate another pit bull like you are on here. Some owners are mean to them which makes them act out. If you treat them good they never act out.

most fatal attacks involve pitbulls it's just a fact you don't hear about joggers getting mauled by golden retrievers and you don't hear about toddlers getting chewed up for pulling on the tales of beagles or German shepherds

well german shepards are like number 3 or 4 for fatalities over the last 100 years so thats not true.

but I understand your point, and that is true pitbulls are at the top of that list by a wide margin. However, If you actually look at dog attack fatalities over the last 50 years something weird happens. before 2000 the most deaths from ALL breed dog attacks in a year was like 7. Then every year for the last 10 years we have had 20 - 35 deaths. EVERY YEAR. pit bulls being mostly responsible (45%-50%)

Why is that? what changed? The breed is still the same breed as it was 15 years ago. But PEOPLE changed how they viewed the breed. PEOPLE started training/breeding the dog to be aggressive. PEOPLE are responsible. not the breed.

No one is saying they don't hurt people. The question was is the breed responsible or not...it is not.

The numbers make this very clear. The mentality of PEOPLE changed. We are responsible. If the breed was at fault. the numbers would be consistent thru the breed's history, their would not be a massive jump in deaths like we have now.

People did this.

It is sad that humanity uses not just dogs but all types of animals for their sick entertainment. I don't know why but over the years people have taken in a liking for these Pitbulls for fighting, yet there are so many different breeds people use we just onoy hear about Pitbulls. If it was up to me I would make the caught owner(s) fight these poor dogs and see how they like it! Although it is VERY true that ANY dog...creature can turn on you but it is very important that if you become a pet owner you need to train your pet correctly. You can potty train a puppy but you can't rely they he/she will never make a mistake and people need to realize that. So train your pets the best you can but always remember they can easily snap, bite, attack just as well as us humans. Always keep in mind that when owning a pet you can love and care for them everyday but always be aware they could very well turn on you. It's really no different from humans, I would never ever harm someone to theri death because its how I was raised but that doesnt mean in the future I wont. So think about that! FYI I hate when people use pecentages because it's people that make them up and only talk about what is considered the worst. Example: 2 dogs attack a child the same day. 1 is a Pitbull the other is a Lab. The Lab victim is a lot worse than the Pitbull's victim but you only hear about the Pitbull's attack. It's people and the media that do this and build these horrid bad reputations, not the animals.

The reason you hear of pit bull attacks is because the media is quicker to jump on those stories because of the breed. I don't know the statistics but if there really are a greater number of attacks by pits its because that's what they were trained to do. If a large percentage of golden retrievers were trained to fight and be aggressive then the number of golden retriever attacks would go up. I'm not saying every pit attack is because of this but I am saying that the number of attacks by pits that r treated well is probably in line with any other breed. I am not a pit owner or even a dog owner but I get tired of hearing this breed maligned. They make good fighting dogs because they r so loyal and want so badly to please their owners and it makes me sick that people take advantage of this by training them to fight and b aggressive. Before you judge the entire breed you should inform yourself better and maybe even spend some time with a pit that has been raised the right way. I really think it may change ur mind and if it doesn't then you are a closed minded judgemental fool and I feel sorry for u.

You have to look at the kinds of people who own aggressive pit pulls. They are generally low income/druggies/the decay of western society.

These types of people train pit pulls o be aggressive or they mistreat them and make them become aggressive.

People who own pit pulls who act normal and are loving pets are not the kind of people I just described above. They treat their dogs with love and make them into fine pets. Pit bulls can be just as good as any another kind of dog.

I am so tired of bullying pits. They are some of the most affectionate, loving, and loyal dogs. All breeds have the potential to be violent and aggressive. It is the responsibility of the owner to train their animal to have the appropriate behavior. The owner of any animal should be sensible enough not to abuse, mistreat, or encourage aggressive behavior. Just like children dogs must be taught right from wrong.
