How old should a child be , before letting them date or letting them shut their room door? Also does age differ in gender?? Help so I won't seem to mean or lenient!

With teenage pregnancy, and STD's I don't think I would let my child ever in their room with door shut....when I was a teenage my mom had no doors shut with boys, but I thought if I had my sister in there I could get by with it....only to get caught....no boys will be allowed in my child's room period....ummm I would say with parent driving and picking up 15-16. It's hard with me knowing what I did at that age...I myself was a teen mom and 8 years later, teen pregnancy is huge! I was the 2nd in my school and Even though I wouldn't do it over I missed out on alot, but my child is the best gift....EVER!!!!

If you have raised your child to respect themselves, they should be able to have closed doors. I ha several boyfriends when I was younger and could have privacy, but I never went beyond making out because I respected myself and my parent's rules. However, most parents today don't give their kids straight talk about sex- kids need to be taught about the reproductive system and exactly how it works before puberty- and I hit puberty at 10. The earlier, the better.

So you think parents should let kids make out? Really?

Exploring sexuality is important. If the kids have respect for themselves and feel like they are ready, then yes. However, by kids- I am talking about anyone over the age of 12-13. Under that, it's time to talk to them about sexuality and to let them know that you are there for them if they have any questions.

I would rather my child be making out with their partners in my home with a little supervision than have them galavanting around town, making out in random places/cars.

Funny, I turned out great with that way of thinking. I'm 27. I learned to respect my body and others because I was well informed by my parents at an early age. They didnt use the Bible to teach me morals about sexuality, but instead used anatomy books and real talk. I didn't have sex until I was 19 and ready, have had numerous healthy sexual partners/ relationships, and am now married. No children yet, as we want to be financially stable. My brother just had his first child a year ago with his wife, at the age of 33. If you actually take the time to teach children about sexuality and the way the reproductive system work, they will know how to better protect themselves. Thinking that because they "don't know about sex" just because you didn't teach them leads to being a grandmother

More than you can count on your fingers and toes. No kids at 12-13 year old should be allowed to make out in their parents home with the door closed. That's just ridiculous.

Just for the record my parents DIDN'T allow their house to be a wh()re house for me or my brother. We are both married as well and didn't have children until we were 31 and 32. So my parents way if thinking works pretty well too. Yours just got lucky.

So, where do you suggest they make out? At school? At the movies? At the park? It's going to happen one way or the other. You keep bashing my lifestyle and ideas, yet you offer nothing valuable in response.

Anywhere but in their parents house. How about like millions of other teenagers before them, where ever they can. Allowing your teenager to shut their door and make out is giving them permission to have sex. My bigger issue with your theory is the age of 12 that you suggested. At 12 kids should still be playing with Barbies.

I am 22 and if I lived at home my dad STILL wouldn't let me have a guy in my bedroom and close the door!! I was raised to respect my dad so I would never ask to do that anyways. The only man I would ever "make out" with in my dad's house will be my husband.
