AK47. 7.62 vs 5.56 and the ar will take a nice deuce on ya when it gets dirty. notice the lack of a forward assist on the ak, thats because they dont need one. it works..

Ak is probably a more reliable gun.

I prefer 5.56 though. It's lighter and more accurate in an ar-15 generally. It won't go thru the next 4 houses like 7.62. 5.56 tumbles after it hits anything and breaks appart.

Both are very good platforms. 7.62 Weighs twice as much that's really the biggest down side for me.

I bought a mini-14 over an AR. Sacrifice some accuracy for more reliability but keep the 5.56. And it can be accurized fairly easily anyway.

You can't go wrong either way. Depends on what you are trying to do. Longer ranges and brush I would go with 7.62. Under 200 yards 5.56. That's me anyway.

I myself own both a Bushmaster patrolman m4a3 and a Romanian ak. My AK was the first tool I bought at 18, and I love them both dearly. I gotta say I like to baby my Bushmaster but yeah the ak is definitely a workhorse. Molon labe!

so, you admit the ak is a better gun, but your basing this on the wood stock? if i were in a live or die situation, i would prefer to have the most lethal weapon on the planet on my shoulder. you are welcome to yours, i just cant believe the value you base this on is "the ugly wood stock"...

I love the wood stock. The only "upgrades" I've done to my ak is the one point sling mount, duracoat matte black finish, main spring recoil buffer, and switched out the trigger. I love the traditional look.

As far as resale value, I'd have to be flat broke and my kids screaming hungry before I sold a tool. Also that "ugly wood stock" will crush a skull/collar bone with ease. The plastic one may break on the black rifle.

M1A's are terribly awesome! I don't own one but I have fired a few, one being select fire 5.56mm. I agree, when I go for a 7.62nato round it will for sure be a M1A.

Yep. Another reason why I got the mini14. It's like a little brother of a m1a. Wouldn't mind having a nice AR or even a saiga ak.
