Yes, I agree. St.Mary's. They seem to work very hard getting you out of the waiting room to see a doctor.

I would suggest St.Mary's. I worked at Deaconess for a very short time as a Phlebotomist and there were very few that I worked with that loved to take care of patients. Most truly didn't give a shit and had no problems letting patients know it either.

You hit right on the nail with that last statement. There are many workers there that absolutely hate their jobs. I know that working hospital hours like 12+ hours a day really sucks, but they shouldn't take it out on patients and staff. They should quit since there's people out there that would love to have their job.

Some staff at Gateway seemed snobby.

I currently work at deaconess and there are some rude and snotty techs and nurses.

Wow. I love the feedback. I didn't want to comment because I didn't want to seem biased since I work at St.Marys but not only do I feel the care and attitudes and overall feeling that St.Marys is better I'm on the inside and know what all St.Marys does with their patients and all the resources to help them not only health wise but with financial and getting medicines and shelter and safety so maybe they won't have to come back to the hospital and can live a healthier life. And obviously our hard work shows.

I feel that the waiting room situation is different at both hospitals. St. Mary's tries their best to get you seen whether a busy or slow night. I've walked out of Deaconess downtown on two occasions. I came in on very slow weekday nights and stayed in the waiting room for at least an hour before just giving up.

I absolutely agree about St. Mary's. I live in Newburgh less than 5 miles from Deaconess Gateway and I still go to St. Mary's. They treat patients so much better. I was so sick one time I was laying across the backseat of the car throwing up with a 103 degree fever and still insisted we drive into Evansville so I could b treated at St. Mary's instead of Gateway. If u want to b treated at all decently go there.

Stmarys. Deaconess is partly for profit. Physicians invest in and own 49% of Gateway. Should this be how healthcare is managed? Physician owned? Fishy...

Plus, Stmarys has MAGNET recognition which no matter how much they try Deaconess can't seem to get.

I agree. I was having overwhelming pain in my stomach that came and went the first two times i went to st. Mary's and they tried telling me it was heartburn and acid reflux!! Went to deaconess since st Mary's wasn't taking it seriously and found out I had gall stones!!! St. Mary's is a joke I will never step foot in that hospital again!

Same thing happened to me only opposite. I even told Deaconess I knew it was gallstones because I have a ton of medical knowledge and they gave me a PPI and said it was reflux. That's the doctor misdiagnosing and while that reflects the hospital it really isn't the hospitals fault. The care there is fabulous!
