<quoted text>hacienda sucks! I work at a resturant on Franklin St. They are very selective of their servers and expect the very best of quality and service. Our servers make great money, we work long nights because of our beer selection and atmosphere but our wages well compensate. We do not have to lower our selves or ever result in being a " piece of meat" find a respectable place to serve with a reputation and u will do well!!

Don't listen to these idiots. NO WAY does anyone make $1000 on a single weekend serving at ANY corporate place. You guys are liars. Don't listen to them. They are prob corporate company men trying to recruit you into a world of shit. Count on about $60 a night. I've worked at several corporate restaurants all over the country and if you are lucky you can pull in $500 a week working 30-40 hours. If you REALLY want to get into serving, go with non-corporate, local places. If restaurants could legally treat their employees worse...the would. All of them. take if from me. 20 years doing this crap.

You can make that maybe on the weekends but during the week there is no way you're pulling $200+ in a three hour shift. I suspect you're one of those too busy talking and flirting with her customers like a stripper after tips and thinks there is no side work because you simply just dont do it. There is side work at every resturaunt it's unavoidable. I think you are really just full of it, dear.
See I dont work at a resturant.. I work at a bar, so yes it is very possible. We get slammed all the time. Esp when there are events going on at the ford center. So yes its very possible to make good money. Ive had 40 dollar tips, 30 dollar tips.

According to my last check I made over 700 in tips within the last 2 weeks. I only claim about HALF of the tips I ACTUALLY make. You can make a lot of money as a server if you have amazing people skills and are willing TO SERVE people (aka kiss folks butt all day all with a smile). I only work all day once a week (35hr wk). I do not work at a steak house..Olive Garden..or Red Lobster. People DO leave 10,15, even 40 tips on a $30 bill but they will only do so if you earn it. I love being a server.
good to know you can ignore reporting income when rest of us dont have to. Guess we can adjust tip for amount of tax you don't report!

Cooks make more. Servers only make good money occasionally, but cooks make over 300 a week guaranteed

Yeah, most servers make less than 60 daily. More like around 45. As a cook I make at least 70, regardless of business.

I'd quit my job if I only made 50-60$ a night !! An average night for me is any where between 100-200 $. To the person who hates to tip out , you need to realize the ppl you are tipping out help you make money ! Utilize your team & you may make more than 50 bucks a night!

Easy pull 1000 a week. They make more than cooks! Crazy but everyone of you are fools for tiping big. 5$ a pErson is way more than enough.. Who cares if the table had a 260$ tab 5$ is more than enough for a tip. If they have 10tables a shift at 5$ a table that's good enough. Cooks work 8 hour shifts make under 100$ server work 5-6 hours and pulls 150 just not fair

I work at a chain restaurant and do quite well not only because of great service but connecting with my guests and have many regulars I see every week. I know their regular orders and talk about everything with them. I am blessed by them and even get wonderful Christmas gifts every year. I love my job flexible hours good pay and insurance as well. I claimed 32000 last year with average of 35 hours per week. all servers have horror stories including myself but great job to have.
Only reason u say ur blessed by your guest is because they tip u an bring gifts. So fake! If they didn't do any of that you wouldn't serve them.

And clueless...no server in a restaurant makes 100 every night. Not even close to average. Maybe some bar hoe, but not at a steakhouse.

Fair? It has nothing to do with being fair. A server will not make good money unless they bust their ass to do so. I rarely make $100 a night and when I do it's because we are packed and I'm running around doing my job. Making 50 a night is fine with me, but you can't expect people to not tip well when you make $2.15 an hour. We live off of tips. Working for 8 hours and making $50 is BAD. In that case cooks always make more, they are paid hourly.

Cooks bust ass almost the whole shift! 2.15 a hour? Well that's what you get for taking a Job that pays 2.15.. Stop begging for money with tips...

servers don't beg for tips as&hole! Quality of service is just as important and the quality of the food! Cooks don't deal with any of the crap the server has to! When you all mess up the order, who is the one that has to take the heat?! It goes hand n hand, and we deserve every bit of what we make! Put ur pickle on ur plate and stop hating!

Anytime a server messes up, they just blame the Kitchen. Cooks always work harder. They have to fix and template everything y'all eff up,as usual. Cooks make more as a result

I already serve, just wanted to know which ones you can make good money at. I'm a guy, and at some point I may switch from restaurant to a bar.
