Yes it is a horrible term! But I believe we(black people) look at it like, we took lemons and made lemonade. It is still not right but that's just the way it is. It is unacceptable when white people use it because 1. They are the ones that named us that, as a degrading name 2.they haven't been through being beaten and raped and treated like a animal, so I think when a white person says the N word it just brings back the past. This is an enlightening post. I think I'm gonna try not to use the word anymore.#thanks :)
Have you been through being beaten, raped, & treated like an animal? My ancestors (native American) had the same thing happen to them. Most of my people died & our population is dwindling. I'm not happy about that past. I can however say, I haven't been subjected to what my people were. I will stand stand strong & not live like these things happened to me. I don't have time to have all of that hate in my heart. Peace.

Dear Black people who encourage their white friends to use the N-Word,

Please stress to them that their 'pass' is only acceptable in your presence. I do not want to have to keep calling them out and having them be embarrassed when they inevitably attempt to greet a black person who has sense with whatever variation of the n-word. They're getting bolder with that BS about having a black pass, and the beat downs that they're receiving are becoming more ferocious. I have witnessed enough white guys being beat cross-eyed and white girls getting dragged through the streets. Please explain to them that racnegro is a rare breed and that only your rare breed tolerates that behavior.

Regards,

A black person who has sense

Black people need to stop calling white people ninjas, though. I've had both bm and bw refer to me as an N. One chick very loudly referred to me as an ninja in front of 30+ black people at a cookout and I was kinda uncomfortable but it was cool.

It doesn't matter who says it or what color you are when you say it If you use that word it makes you look and sound stupid. It should be looked down upon in the black community when others use it You can't listen to most rap or black comedy's without hearing that word used every other word. Sad really.

Can us white ppl get some of your lemonade then?? Again might i ask have u personally been through any beatings or been raped or treated like an animal? I don't think you have or I'm sure there would have been a law suit in this day and age, which you would have won hands down. I do agree with you though if you don't want others to use it so freely try and be a leader and don't continue to influence the usage.

If you really want the N word to not be a part of American vocabulary, then just maybe African Americans ought to not use the word with each other. Set the example, and demand the respect that others will not use the word either.
Black or white people using that word are ignorant and just help to perpetuate the use of it.

My question is: Should black people and hip hop culture be blamed for the n word?

Yes.
Just like women using "bitch" to describe themselves because rappers made it popular.

But we allow it, accept it, excuse it, water it down, made it better.
So now everyone stop trying to make distinctions, because like I always believe, Pop culture takes it lead from black people.
And as the saying goes...
You teach people how to treat you....

We as a community through wanting mainstream acceptance of us, we taught them how to address us.
So him now calling you a "bitch" is good.
And the N-word without the 'er'(as if it matters to them) is good.

Idiot rappers, hip hop, and trashy black people have a big part to play. Furthermore, not all black people are African Americans!! The shit you guys do affects other people.

White people invented the horrible word. OfCourse they are going to say it. Some just have the decency not to say it in front of blacks. Our ancestors didn't call themselves Diggers minus the "D" + the "N". White people did that. Shit has not changed. Some just know when not to say it and to whom.

How when the white man created it? I don't listen to much rap but, I know I can't blame the rap culture for everything! The Internet is just as worse for hate crimes, sex, etc. I say take it all away! If parents would love and teach their children how behave and respect others, there would be no need to point a thousand fingers! It all starts at home. If your own children can't respect you then, how can they respect others? Parents need to take pride in knowing what their children are doing. Be involved and be a parent first!
