25 mph speed limit on Cass Ave.

So long as I can remember the speed limit on Cass Ave. has been 25 mph.
So why is it that Westmont Police shoot down the street at 60 mph, possibly faster?
If you live on Cass Ave. I am sure you have seen them starting from the top of the hill north of 55th St. reaching speeds so high that by the time they cross the tracks their tires never touch the ground.
How long before a pedestrian or vehicle backing out of their driveway gets hit? Late at night this happens almost hourly, top speeds on a 2 lane street. With new businesses like Georges Grilled and Chilled and other walk-ups you cant help but be concerned.
Does anyone living on Cass share the same experiences?
I dont want to find a body on my front lawn! Nor do i want a car to break through my picture window!

I noticed the cops speed down Cass all the while pulling people over for doing 5 over the limit. I pretty much think that the Westmont cops feel they can do whatever they please. We were pulled over a few years ago for our tires being an inch over the white line at a stop sign, yet I have seen cops not even stop at stop signs. The rules should apply to EVERYONE, cops included.

If you ever feel that the police officer is doing something wrong, do not hesitate to call the police department to file a complaint. Try to have as much information available about the situation as possible when you do call. Such as time of day, the car number, plate number, a physical description of the officer, and the offending act.
Not everything that you observe is wrong, but sometimes the wrong acts of a few officers make the rest of the department look bad. Whether you feel right or wrong, or not sure, by all means pick up the phone and communicate your concerns to the department.

I have started to document the time of day and date that it happens. Its unfortunate that the speeds are so fast, a car number or plate is impossible.
When the nights are pleasant and my windows are open the sound of a car going that fast is frightening. I have yet to hear of any high speed chases or fires in the Progress. I would like to know what excuses could be given for endangering people this way?!

I agree that something needs to be done about the Westmont Police. I have called and complained to the station about the speed of the patrol cars but all that happens is I run into the unspoken blue wall.
Nothing gets done because cops won't turn in other cops simple as that

You are 100% correct. Something needs to be done about the police. More times than not the cars do not have sirens or lights on. This just happened 2 minutes ago as I read your post. IT IS 5:00PM RUSH HOUR!!! Someone is going to be seriously hurt.
I must commend the fire department and paramedics. They always use their lights and sirens. They go fast, although, its reasonable for the size street and traffic flow. Why cant the police follow their example?
I can only assume that this is just complete recklessness on the part of Westmont cops.

So you think they won't end up in you're front window if they have their lights on?
