This is just nuts!
The real cost of the 'reform' and 'progress' with our new optical scan voting system - thanks to Susan B.- is starting to show.
Everyone knows all the voters in the 27th State Senate District are not going to show up for the special election! Printing a ballot for each one of them - so as not to look like Bridgeport - is absurd! Imagine ANY rational State official saying there should be an available ballot for every voter in every election! What waste! What gall!

At least Darien officials had the spine to order a bit more than the anticipated turnout, which is what Bridgeport did before the last election - AND before anyone knew both the First Lady and the President would pay the Park City separate pre-election visits.

I know we'll never 'revert' to the printamatic mechanical voting machines, but there was no half-buck-a-page printing cost for paper ballots!
What a racket!

not to mention the problems with the chain of custody of the memory cards, or the wireless system that can be easily hacked.

Right on, Mike.
Unlike the old printimatics which were audited, sealed and stored in the custody of local officials, now we PAY every time there is an election for off-site uncontrolled reprogramming of the systems! And the hacking possibilities are infinite.
But the COST of printing paper ballots (how retro can you get?) at half a buck a page is going to make exercising our franchise a whole lot more expensive!
And Suzy B inked a 30 year contract for this disgrace!
