GREAT! I'll pay a reasonable toll to travel from Foley to Rt. 10 at 60-70mph without having to go through Summerdale, Robertsdale and Loxley but I won't pay $3.50 to cross over 50 feet of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway at Orange Beach. That little bridge has got to be the biggest toll rip-off in the Country and Orange Beach should be shot for making such a stupid deal with the owner. I have no sympathy with Orange Beach losing money on that bridge if the remainder of the Expressway becomes a toll road. I'd advise any out-of-towners coming down Rt. 59 to the beach to just go through Foley. It will add a few minutes to your trip but there is so much to see and do in Foley and Gulf Shores that you will miss by paying $3.50 to cross the canal and, you can take the Foley Beach Expressway and turn off at Rt. 98 into downtown Foley without having to pay one dime of toll.

I just went through this ridiculous toll booth, simply following my GPS.$3.50 to wait an extra half hour in traffic, when the perfectly good Highway 59 is free and a LOT faster. As an out-of-state tourist I'm angry, and if I lived in Orange Beach I would be absolutely embarrassed. The sad thing for them is everybody will just bypass their town and be done with it.

We pay for roads and bridges to be built and maintained with OUR tax dollars. And then they charge us a toll to use them. Atlanta is doing the same thing with their stupid "hot" lanes where the toll price changes depending on traffic. That's our wonderful government at work.

That is the mistake that Orange Beach made. They made a deal with the private builder but didn't know how to write a contract. Now, the private builder is making most of the money and Orange Beach and the public are getting screwed.

Mike, thanks for posting this information. I'm glad that this project will soon be completed and I really do know how weather delays projects. Unfortunately, weather delays should have been build into the schedule so as not to give the public a reason to believe that it would go on and on and on and never be completed.
