I hope the entire country would pass the rule if you can't pass a drug test them you get no welfare. I personally feel even if you smoke you should not be allowed any assistance from the govt.

Wonderful idea but you all know that the Liberals will cry "But what about the Children? Are you going to let them starve?" The fact that the Food Stamps and Welfare recipients don't give a flying-flip about their children or they wouldn't use drugs is ignored by Liberals.

I have an idea ... if the adult [term used loosely] fails a drug test, the family doesn't get Food Stamps, they get a "Food Card" redeemable ONLY at specific restaurants and, yes, even certain fast food type restaurants. But to be used ... the recipient must verify that he/she is the legal owner of the "Food Card." Photo ID would be good.

As far as the Welfare payment ... again, make the use of the "card" dependent on proof that the person who has the card is the lawful owner of it.

Welfare Cards and Food Stamps Cards should have PHOTOS of the recipient AND the 'authorized' users on them ... or they're confiscated ... no exceptions. The recipient will have to reapply AND document with a police report [filing a false report is punishable] that the 'card' was "stolen."

AND while we're at it ... no Welfare to Illegal Immigrants ... Birth Certificates must be provided by the applicant ... Lawfully obtained and Certified ... to apply for Food Stamps and Welfare Checks AND Housing allowances ... no more HUD housing to unlawful entrants.

We are a Nation of Immigrants ... LEGAL IMMIGRANTS ... not law breaking ones.

The lawmakers should make sure that they take the tests first.

Check Florida, they did this, and so far it isn't working out to good. Good idea, however, how much money will you save when:
!. You have to pay social workers to go out and collect the kids from the home.
2. You put the parents in treatment.
3. There are endless trips by social workers and DEFACS, meetings, doctor bills.
4. you pay people to house, supervise, babysit, feed and take care of the little ones.
5. To everyone's surprise Florida found that the percentage of welfare recipients on drugs was less than the general population.
The best way to deal with the Welfare problem is to limit the size of their families, by passing a new law that requires;
When a welfare Mom comes in pregnant hospital officials give her a form to fill out authorizing the Doctor and the Hospital to tie her tubes before she leaves the hospital. That is the action usually taken by couples who decide they can't afford to have any more kids. Why should these rational couples have to pay taxes for welfare queens to have an unlimited number of kids?
If she does not want her tubes tied , cut off her welfare checks. Her decision.
