Has anyone in Danville or Boyle County gotten their property taxes through the mail? It's time and I have not received anything? Does anyone know what is going on?

If you don't receive it by Friday, I'd go to the courthouse and see @ the PVA office or Sheriff's Dept. and find out for myself. Instead of complaining on here, maybe you can pay it while your there finding out...

Actually, there is a DISCOUNT period from November 1 through November 30. In other words, the government is giving the taxpayers the opportunity to save money. After November 30, the bill will be more because the FACE AMOUNT of the bill will then be due by December 31. I hardly think that constitutes corruption.

Well maybe the comment stems from ppl feeling helpless that they can't even get a fair assessment? My property value went up again last year and I KNOW my home isn't worth what is was a few years ago...just saying

We are all entitled to our opinion, but I do know how to comprehend what I read. He/she clearly was referring to the fact that the bills increase if not paid by a certain date. After the discount period is past, the face amount is then due. If the bills are not paid by December 31, then a penalty is added and every month thereafter until it is paid. I understand that people have hard times. I have to save throughout the year to be able to pay my taxes when they come due, but that is part of being a homeowner. Moreover, that doesn't mean that the government is corrupt now does it? Also, I have no idea of your personal situation or how much your home is worth, but very few homes are selling for what they would have a few years ago. Still, that has nothing to do with the PVA assessment. On the other hand, it has everything to do with the current state of the economy. And last, you may have already done so, but if you don't agree with the current assessment of your property, you should file an appeal with PVA.

You are just an angry little person. Or do you use this site as a means to rid yourself of aggression that you don't have the balls to bring out in person? Lighten up.
