What about the therapy department? I have heard that DCHR has a very good therapy department. Someone I know had a family member at DCHR and raved about an occupational therapist named David? I think that any place you go with regard to health care has both good and bad aspects.....great and not so great workers. It is just a shame that the not so great workers impact a residents life in a negative manner.

Yeah I worked with him somewhere else and he tried to screw all the women. Him and one of the RNs named Christie used to mess around all the time. And she was married, he was to. I guess Danville Center is like all those factry's where people mess around on their husbands and wifes, ain't no different than anywhere else.

The problem is your government. Kentucky has no law that states how may patients a cna or nurse can take care of. Most of the nursing homes are run by corparations who spend as little mooney as possible on the care of the residents. These corporation also lobby the politicians with lots of money so laws dont get passed to regulate staff patient ratios. If you wnat to do something call your polticians. Quit complaining to the staff who are doing the best they can.

actually, they do have laws that say how many residents 1 aide can have in their group. im not positive on this, but i think its supposed to be 8:1 for days,12:1 for evenings, and 30:1 for nights. dont hold me to it, cause its been a couple weeks since ive checked on it, but im pretty sure thats the cna to resident ratio.

I have a question.
What are the RNs and LPNs doing while all the CNAs are doing all the work, that you guys profess they are doing?
If the CNAs are being moved from an assigned area to other areas because of understaffing, what are the RNs and LPNs doing during the shift?
I ran across this topix and decided I had to answer charlieb's question. I have been a LPN for more than 25 years. I do not work at Danville Center. I have worked at 4 nursing homes in my career and I can assure you, they are all the same. Lpn's are responsible for average of 35 patients and sometimes the number is as high as 50. It can take a average of 4 hours just to give these people their morning medications. I am by no means taking anyones side here, I just want the public to understand why there is a big turnover in employees in these facilities. You work until you reach burnout stage and to keep your sanity, you have no choice but to move on.

Thanks for enlightening me.
I thought there would be a patient/ LPN-RN ratio similar to the patient/ CNA ratio.

I worked there a long time ago and yes the residents are treated poorly but you can complain to no avail. The time I covered for third shift they were mostly worried about smoking than answering call bells. I always worked first and when I would tell my nurses the patients were requesting prn meds they would be more concerned about gossping and smoking in the residents courtyards, yes LaVonna you are guilty.

Wow you just said you worked there a long time ago. How do you know things havent changed? Im sure the Management team is doing all in their power to make this one of the best Facilities in the area.
Now you still have your CNA's and Nurses that dont do thier jobs correctly, but all in all its not a bad place..

it is posted in the building. the papers are hanging in the laundry hall. it tells the nurse to resident ratio and the cna to resident ratio. and it also tells the residents census of the 3rd shift prior to each day. oh and..."long ago", there isnt even a resident courtyard there, nor a nurse named Lavonna. If you mean LavonDa, yes she was a problem. but she hasnt worked there in 2 years!!
