Less than a month after Danville native Danielle Thomas' brutal murder in New York City , hundreds of people are honoring her memory through purchasing "Justice for Danielle" bracelets.

It is a horrible thing that has happened to her. Thoughts go out to the friends and family of her. Every year thousands of women die because of domestic abuse. Why should this one case get so much attention when the others don't?

Yea well you know what. maybe if a previous case of domestic violence had been plastered all over tv, newspapers, and the Internet maybe Danielle's death could have been prevented. No I don't need Jesus.

Inflammatory responses need not be posted here. Please do not get upset that one woman gets attention and others do not. It matters only that we speak up. PERIOD! The silence behind domestic violence is part of the reason it is perpetuated. Fear is paralyzing to the victim and power to the perp. If we add more voice with each and every case maybe, just maybe we can put an end to the tragedy and get the victims the help they nee before it's too late. As a domestic violence survivor myself, I am fully aware of how this whole sick situation works. I don't want another person to live the way I had to live for so long. Offer gentleness and compassion to anyone you know who is suffering.
