Is there any place around here to get help paying electric bill??

I have a very high electric bill this month, and due to family circumstances I'm unable to pay it in full balance. It seems that at most of these places you have to be making very low income to get some kind of assistance. I don't make a whole lot but was already turned down at DHHR for being over their income limit. Is there ANYWHERE I can go to get help paying it around here??

iv been there.. grab a phone book and start calling churches and the salvation army.. the salvation army will pay sum.. and churches. sum are gunna say no.. but theres a few that will be glad too help... good luck

Concerned, have you tried Helping Hands? They used to help people with utility bills, and I pray you'll find the assistance you need.

As for you, "blah, blah blah", I've got some news.
Anyone can have financial problems, health problems, etc. that can impede the ability to pay bills, eat, buy clothing and so on. Also, contrary to popular belief, not everyone in this country has opportunities as everyone else. I've seen people turned down for minimum wage jobs because they weren't good looking, or didn't have a nice vehicle and seen those jobs go to bored housewives who just want something to do! It seems to me you could use a healthy dose of reality.

I need a healthy dose of reality? Really? Because reality to me seems that I put in 50 + hours a week at work only to have $5000 + taken from me this year in medicaid. And that 5k probably went to some bum in mingo or hardy county that doesn't work, has 5 kids, a drug/alcohol problem, and a brand new Camaro in the driveway. That's reality. Or the fact that when they take their 5 kids to the doctors office and scan their Wv gold card aka Medicaid card and walk out of there paying zero dollars for the visit. While I on the other hand bust my hump all week long to keep a paycheck rolling in and to keep my insurance and am still scared to get sick/injured because of my copay costs. That's reality.

for blah blah blah while that is true for some of the people getting assistance it's not true for all there are people who have worked hard and want to work but have been laid off from there jobs or work for a company that doesnt provide insurance or have a family member who has cancer and cant pay for their expensive treatments etc and no im not getting any assistance nor have i ever gotten any i have been lucky enough not to be in that situation but i realize that some havent been as lkucky no matter how hard you work it can happen to anyone and i would say i hope it happens to you one day so you can realize that but i wouldnt wish that on anyone

Do not ASSUME the family circumstances are legitimate.Could be anything.Anyone and everyone can/could hold their electric bill down with some foresight.The DHHR should have been able to provide a list of alternate sources.I am not being mean-spirited,I am being realistic.

This one reeks of scam;my opinion,of course.

Try Mountain Heart. It's on Ragland Road in Beckley, WV. You will need all your income info on paper to turn in. Apply in person at their office. Also, try Fishes and Loaves behind Family Worship Center. Ask for Shelby. You will need your income info and of course, your power bill at both. Good luck! Those AEP bills are horrid this month for almost everyone I've spoken with.
