Hey Boyd is doing what the other Casinos should have done and make a business decision based on common sense good for them. Give the Indians what they are entitled to as per the Federal government and give them more if it means we get a cut as it really goes to Education and not misspent by Rubio and his crooked croonies!!! Gambling is already here either with the Indians or on the day trips let's try and get some of the found money that is already being spent and improve what we need in the State!!!! Oh yeah I forgot Rubio and his boys what a cut before they do what is right for the whole state!!!!!

Just about everyone here is saying the same thing: The Florida culture of casinos is just a rip off. I am not a professional gambler, but I do enjoy it. I go to Las Vegas with a 'budget' to loose and usually will win or come out even. Yes--the prices have gone up in Vegas. But you can still get some decent food at decent prices, and the drinks are free in the casinos. I can honestly say that I have been to Vegas twice this year and to the Florida ‘casinos’ twice. Even though it is 'illegal' to give drinks away, they could slash prices to almost nothing. Slot machines? I never liked them. Bring in the tables. I do not see myself returning to the Florida Casinos at all under the current situation. Florida prohibits free drinks, or frees anything. The casinos love that part, as they charge exorbitant prices on food and drinks. Not only is it cheaper to go to Las Vegas---its cheaper to go on a cruise. A nice cruise is about $100 a day INCLUDING gourmet food and top entertainment. Once again Florida thinks that people are just stupid. Unfortunately, too many are.(But that's par for the Country, I guess.) It isn’t just the Bible thumpers who are against real casinos. It the Bahamas and the Cruise Industry! Just like the Indians, they also have it without any taxes!)

Want to eliminate Property Taxes totally? Legalize prostitution and marijuana. There are more prostitutes here than in Nevada --where it is legal.. Just look in the yellow pages under Escorts or Massage? Marijuana----same thing. The only thing legalized marijuana would hurt is the budget for Police and Jails. By the way, Marijuana is decriminalized in about 20 states!

Tax needs to be lowered...and FL should have full casinos. Imagine if MGM Mirage, Wynn or Harrahs were allowed to come in and build some mega resort-casinos? That's where the tax revenue would come from.
Also, why not add a penney & 1/2 to sales tax? That would pump more money into the state...maybe lower our property taxes...Tourists would end up paying a big chunk.
So you pay $.23 on $3.00 instead of $.18? Big deal. At least some of the people that are getting paid 'under the table' would contribute.
Why do you want to in crease taxes? As I said, legalize real casinos, prostitution and marijuana. We already have more prostitution than in Nevada where it is legal. Legalizing Marijuana would only hurt the police and jails budgets, and force vice cops to do real work. Unfortunately, Disney World, Universal Studios, Bush Gardens, etc, etc and the Cruise industry and the Bahamas, Mexico and other ports would fight real casinos and would NEVER permit the big hotel resorts from opening casinos in Florida. What about the Bible thumpers and Neo Cons? Tell them that there could also be gay prostitution! Bob Allen and Tom Foley would support that!

I agree with you about the small increase in sales tax. I also think this state needs to take a serious look at how much revenue would be raised from a small state income tax, like 2% maybe. Hey,no one wants to pay,but this state isnt exactly rural anymore. Its population has grown tremendously, and state services are being stressed beyond what the current tax pool can cover.
