If you don't like aircraft noise, then don't buy a house near an airport!

Time marches on, airports grow, it happens all over the world! You people who only think of yourselves and not the greater good of a major metropolitan area need to get a damn clue, accept reality, and move on with your life.

Don't have the money
Can't fight
Don't have the money
You don't have freedom
You live in America, you better have money, because you won't have freedom!
Dania don't fight, just charge a noise fee everytime a plane goes over the city limits, it will help clean up the area from the pollution and the residents will have money!

Why fight it? Residents are for it, the majority so. More residents are against spending $800K to fight it even if they dont want it. Nothing will change with a new runway, they wont fly at night and they wont be much more.

There will be impacts. Money to be spent to try and delay will fail. Money will be better spent trying to mitigate impacts and/or lobbying to come up with mitigation plans. Time to accept the change and find a way to minimize the impacts. All information of the impacts is available from the FAA and should be used to reduce impacts.

I just bought a house on I-75. I can't stand the traffic noise. I hope the Town will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to close down the interstate.

I have said this all along. Your dealing with big government which will do what they want when they want and little local government will not stop the FAA and big government. What does big government care about local residents, wetlands and county parks? Nothing! Local Dania Beach Commissioners will do what the residents want. "Puppets on a String". This has been and always will be a waste of money for Dania to fight.$800,000 spent so far? That would have been a nice free standing library. Oh wait, the city overpaid for the property that library is going to be sitting on. They could have bought it years ago for alot less. Time to get out of Dania quick, its only going to get louder and lousier here.

Supply impact glass and noise canceling windows to all the residents in the path. That will square up some of the problem.
The city's money will be considered well spent.

...800k is a lot for minimal results but paying a million more than appraisal value for the un-needed parking garage smells like a PAYOFF-particularly with a desperate seller and a crashing real estate market !No wonder they wanted a city commissioner to NEGOTIATE the sweetheart price and not the city manager who was a good negotiater !

I served on a jury in an eminent domain case involving a patch of land southeast of the current airport property that was to have been developed for that runway expansion. The plan was to build a tunnel under that land as the runway was to be built on top. Why do city/county planners believe digging underground will solve everything? Reroute the traffic around and preserve the coral rock which protects the aquifer where we get our drinking water...or is the next step a desalinization plant?(More tax money spent.)

Nashville airport expanded many years ago. Offered to buy houses out or install sound-proof door & windows, additional sound-proof insulation to walls & attics and upgraded homes without central heat/AC for homes within a impacted radius. I heard the planes a little before they did this, but not a single one going over after they sound-proofed. Added bonus, electric bills went down substantially. My grandparents lived there happily, seldom bothered by the planes, until they passed away in their 90's. They joked that the airport expansion actually benefited them!

I have to agree. Broward County signed inter-local agreements with Hollywood, Davie and Dania. Those agreements were executed and put in place a plan to use the south runway with the majority of the traffic going east. Spend your money enforcing those agreements. Without those agreements in place years ago, Broward County would have never moved forward with the plan.

By the way, the runway will not cost $800 million. Research the articles. The costs have grown from $635 million to now $800 and each year they will keep sliding in the truth. The truth is it will cost $1.4 billion and they all know it. They also will have a tough time getting all the money.

This is also the plan for FLL. The problem is the Federal DNL level is 70 and FLL wants to take it to 65. Trouble is, the airlines say no because that could have a ripple effect across the country. Big bucks at stake.

What amazes me is that such a large, financially-motivated establishment, Ft. Lauderdale Int'l, can fail to hire foresight advisors: Commercial aircraft have been and are going to be smaller. The future of aviation is in small, mach speed aircraft. It's not a coincidence that the concord didnt survivie, and that airbus is in trouble. The airport is setting themselves up for failure.

I am a resident of Malaleuca Gardens, and will be leaving for college in only a few months. Dont think for one minuite my opinions are self-righteous or self-serving: we're worried about noise, but more-so about the enviromental impacts. As it is now, the runways eastern flight path takes aircraft over the forested area on the east side of the intercostal on the barrier islands. The difference with a new runway: same flight path - lower altitude. Increased noise pollution. Increased chemical exaust pollution.

Davie, I get it. We're in a bit of a financial downturn here. It's expensive to fight.

Dania, however, must make this a financial priority. I doubt anything else could chase away Dania's dwindling tourism base, or dwindiling natural wildlife, faster than a 747 run-up.

340,000.00 would go a long ways in keeping people from starving.......its like the people who live next to the railroad tracks in fort lauderdale. if you dont like the noise, MOVE! I promise you that some other idiot will buy the property.
