Are the ballparks a county owned or operated feild?
Were they built with tax dollars or donations ?
Are they on county property ? Private Property ?
Who is in charge of them ? Can anybody use them ? Is there a fee ? I remember the donation buckets all over town and I think Jackson Realty put them out or supported the building of them but I'm not sure. Any responses appreciated.

Mayor George Gantte can answer these questions. I do know that the Jackson family played a very large part in getting the field Of Dreams built for our kids.

The Field of Dreams came about because a group of people in Dandridge wanted a nice park for our kids to have to use. Dick Jackson, Bill Rose, Kevin Pipes, Wayne Treadway, Jerry Jarnigan, and Terry Reneau are just a few. South Jefferson Little League and Dandrige Broncos Football each raised $10,000 each to start the park. But, in order to keep it maintained and to make it what it is, those organizations agreed to let the Town of Dandridge take it over. By doing that, they were able to obtain grants to add even more to the park, like the playgrounds and picnic shelter and hopefully a new community center. The Dandridge Recreation Fund was set up to protect baseball/football's interests. And while the Town runs the Field of Dreams, Little League baseball and football have priority on use. If anyone else wants to use it, they must make a request to the Park Management Committee ( they meet the third Monday of each month at 6:30 at the Public Works Bldg.) and there is a user fee involved.

Thanks for the info. Was at the park one day last summer, just to relax with the kids. I really like the picknic shelter. Thanks to whoever was behind that.

There are no parking fees. When we were at the picnic shelter last summer, we found no rest rooms open. We were there at an off peak time.Just a bunch of school friends hanging out. Nothing was going on. Some families were using the shelter for birthday parties.

We must be special. Didn't cost us a dime. All you have to do is park your vehicle and walk across the road and go to the grassy place, where the fields are and the shelter. Surely you did not drive your vehicle onto the football field. No wonder they charged you. If you can read----never mind it is above your head.

Oh great the old fart is up from his nap, wide awake and ready to stir up the poo with the other poster. They just can't let it go. All we get to hear is them pissing and moaning about each other..

Field of Dreams?? Really?? What is so great about this park? I have heard things about this ball park but have never been there when we played there recently the only thing I noticed different about it was that there is grass in the infield.....didn't see anything great about this park or the people who ran it either.

Ive been to a lot of recreational facilities in the area and dandridge has some of the best fields ive seen. Everything was maintained nicely. My hats off to the workers and volunteers who put in the hours at that place.

what ever you do , don't let your daughters play in dandride softball, it all one sided Tim martin flips his finger to the little league and does what he wants, pick only the pest players and throws away the others, he does not care at all about the girls only that his team wins, he make up rules as he goes along, he stepped down as pres and put in place his ass coach as acting coach, the girls voted in all-stars where not in his faves so he make his team also with out any votes a all-star team, with out anyone knowing, WARNING IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR DAUGHTER CRYING ON THE WAY HOME ROM A SHOULD BE A GREAT DAY AT THE PARK STAY AWAY!!!

The baseball program is a joke; that's why most of the good players only play travel ball. There are even 4 Jeff County teams that play their Rec ball in Knoxville instead of their own county because the baseball if run so terribly. Fields and facilities are great, but Wayne Treadway is unwilling to adapt to the times. Mayor Gantte is the biggest joke in the whole thing. He thinks the donated land given by Grace Shrader is his personal property. They let the players vote for the All Stars! That's the funniest thing I ever heard. Ok, let's make the All Stars a popularity contest instead of allowing the players to earn a spot on the team by their performance on the field. Wayne Treadway resign, board members leave, Mayor Gantte move to Morristown.....you are holding back the development of youth sports in Jefferson County!

They only care about softball. It cost $70 to play teeball! They don't make up game missed because of rain. They don't want quality coaches. They would rather have coaches who are oblivious to how they are scamming everyone. If you want you child to play baseball, find another league.

They need to clean house and start over with baseball. What a damn joke. Almost every board member needs to go and about half the coaches.

What's pathetic is, all you parents that act this way. Just imagine how your children will act as adults. Let the children play and stop being helicopter parents, trying to avenge your nerdy youth, through your children.
