<quoted text> Stop and think about what you just said....prices may be somewhat higher, but the produce was picked hours before arriving to the market. The produce was hand picked, not by machines and has been handled accordingly. You buy fresher and tastier food. If that's a problem, I suggest you buy "real value canned corn, green beans, tomatoes" at food city. Sounds like you think food is food. Get your can opener ready! You apparently do not have "farming sense"!

Ok I stopped and thought about what you have said.

The prices are higher because the grower is picking and not cheap migrant workers. Machines do a better job on what machines pick.
The produce arrives at food city just as fresh as what is solk at the market, go and look.
We don't buy any canned goods other than a can of tune because canned goods are bad for your health.
We have been farming and gardening since knee high to a grasshopper and we are old as the dirt we plow and tend.
Facts are facts is all I am saying. Get over it already, but do go to food city and look and ask about what I was a saying? They will tell you the same thing.

Who's really to blame? The Manley's spent way too much money, but where did they get it? Who extended them that much credit? When they began losing large sums of money, why did they not ask for help then instead of sympathy now? Why did they not have crop insurance for when the weather did not cooperate? I do not find much sympathy in such mismanagement. I know I can not over extend what I owe or what make. Farming is a business and should treated that way. I hate to see farm land used for other uses. But I would not care to bet that most of you are living in subdivisions built on farmland. I would rather see the railroad use the land than another slum lord trailer park. And yes they are still popping up regardless of what you may think. Look at both sides, weigh out the differces and the likeness of business and farming. My family had to give up our farm for a new highway. I did not want to give up me home and farmland, but the new road may save lives in our community. and the railroad may save this county.

"Slum Lord trailer park" You sound like my buddy,Wes. Yes,you are right, there was obviously bad management and that size operation sure aint hobby farming. As for saving the County,we might be looking for something to save our Country ! Great thoughts.
