This is total B.S. I am a Deputy and know for a fact that this simply a rumor generated to slander this new school for whatever reason. Only TRULY ignorant individuals would believe this!"

This is NOT a rumor....call Mrs. Austin and ask her...My name is Angela Lindsey for your information, you can look me up in the phone book and call me if you'd like. I would be more than happy to discuss it with you!!! You can also call Mrs. Sherry Finchum with whom I spoke with yesterday about the situation!!! I know the facts because this happened to me and my child!!!
I can also pull random names from the phone book. NO SUCH INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED!

Unfortunately, you don't have that right...call central office or the attorney's in Nashville...they will inform you of this!
of course they try to say this. But it most certainly is your right. The school system tries to be too controlling and take advantage. Ask central office or that attorney for the reasons for refusal in writing. They won't give it because its not true. You will never get satisfaction in any situation where Sherry Finchum is involved. She is a waste of oxygen. Pretty much like the person on here that I hope isn't truly a deputy. Your child should have never been left unattended. She has been let down by the public school system. If a person is refusing to let these kids eat then they don't need to be there. I know why they turn off the lights. That's supposed to be a signal to quiet down a little. The school should maybe have an adult watch out for her when this happens. Mt Horeb was said to have the best staff to handle special needs in the county. I'd hate to see the worst. I'm still praying for you Angie and your family. I only got on this trash forum to support you and now I don't believe I'll look again. Too many stupid people on here.

Actually it is easy to see that you are the problem as the parent. If you keep coddling this child and not making her take responsibility it will get much worse. You should have been waiting for her at home with the belt instead of hanging on topix blaming everyone else. This child will néed to learn to eat lunch in a variety of environments if she is ever going to be a functional adult.

My child is a special needs child....of course she knows better than to do this, I don't know why that particular day she chose to walk out the door, but her teacher should have made sure she made it back to the lunchroom before she started her own meal period. In the previous four years she attended school at JES, nothing like this ever happened. Could it be due to the fact that she is scared to go to the lunchroom because of the mean man that works in there that is constantly yelling and screaming at the kids, turning off the lights, and making them stand against the wall without eating? My child has sensory issues and cannot handle yelling...maybe this is why she didn't want to go to lunch that day...I can't really get it out of her...the only thing she told me was that she missed her puppy and wanted to go home...even still, a special needs child should have never been allowed to go back to the classroom all alone and certainly the teacher should have made sure she made it back before going to lunch herself!!!

<quoted text>Ahh...you again.Love me dont you? What Im really wondering is,why would a child leave the school and go trotting down the road? Schools arent prisons and there has to be a reasonable expectation that a child would know not to just up and leave at will and whim.Thats why the doors arent locked on the inside of the school.Did the child not know any better? Barring any mental incapability,he or she shouldve known.Course,Deputy says this whole thread or at least half of it is a big pile of horse hockey and that wouldnt suprise me a bit.

This is so true. How many "special needs" kids do we have today compared to 10 years ago. Parents need to get control and stop thinking your child will be more productive if they get special treatment on all of life's challenges. Heck I'm probably borderline retarded, but my mom or dad would have never allowed me to "eat lunch by myself" because I could not handle noise. Furthermore if I ran away from school I would have had a hard time sitting for the next week, special needs or not. Instead this worthless parent perpetuates the problem and instead of guiding and shaping this girl she gets on topix to blame everyone else.

Have you ever considered volunteering in the school, as a lunch room or other aide? The schools are set up as a teaching institution and not as a baby sitter. Help is always welcome. Give it a try.

If the girl who run off was special need then seem like the special need teacher would know to pay better attention to that type student. im not going to judge the kid or parent for what happened because special need teachers should be trained to pay real good attention to kids they work with. If she has learning disability then she might not of known better. thats just my opinion but i dont know everything that happen that day.

To all of those people out there who think I'm a terrible parent...walk in my shoes oneday....my child is disciplined all the time...I'm not saying she's perfect, I'm not saying she deserves special treatment, I'm not saying she should eat lunch alone, all I'm saying is that this should have never happened!! For those of you who want to judge me, go right ahead, and for those of you who think this never happened....well, you can call the school and find out for yourselves. I am not a liar, and I don't coddle my child. She doesn't get everything she wants, and she is very respectful and is very polite and well mannered. For whatever reason that day, she chose to walk out of the school, even though she has been taught right from wrong, it happened, and now we are dealing with it! I will not comment any further on this situation because that is only fanning the flames of these people out there that "hate" me, and believe what they want to believe anyway! I appreciate all of those who support me, and I especially appreciate the kind gentleman who pulled into the school driveway and walked my child back into the school. If anyone has any information on who this man was I would appreciate it...I really want to thank him!!!

I guess the incident with Bud ordering the vicious dog be put in the impound lot instead of having animal control take it never happened either. The vicious dog got out of the impound lot near an elementary school and had to be hunted down, but it never happened...right...

That's right. I called the Standard Banner and the county dispatch and neither of them have heard of any such incident.

What the hell does a dog in an impound lot have to do with this thread? Did the imaginary girl walk away from school, get mauled by the "vicious dog" then get picked up and returned by a mystery old man? Sounds like we're grasping for straws here!

Just another case where JCSD (BUD) declared in front of county commission that something never happened when there is a police report to prove that it did....

Well our family also wrote the standard banner about this situation and i guess they are afraid to print the story. I think its sad as a community we don't come together during a situation like this and make sure it doesn't happen again instead of bash the parents.
We are relatives and you all can kiss our ass.
We will get the truth out there!

This is very frightening as a parent. I hope some changes are made with the school system to keep this from happening again.
