It's absolutely worse- just ask most of the guys working there - conditions are terrible. He's a suckass Sheriff that has no idea what he's doing. No direction, no goals, no nothing. Worst thing this county has ever seen. Good luck to all those that voted for him - he'll turn on you like he has others, already.

The fine folks in Grainger County love him - thats where he finds all his new officers. Ex Sheriff, Ex Chief of Police, Ex Flunkies that Grainger County don't want anymore - now we're blessed with them. Hope they can help McCoig out (way out) when election time rolls around.

First, I'd say that they probably put up with a lot because they have families to feed and bills to pay. Not to mention, jobs for public servants are not plentiful at this time because of hiring freezes statewide. Second, let's not forget, that many of these people have served this county for years. These people have stuck with their department and the county through good times and bad. Unlike those who got their training paid for by the Jeff Co taxpayers and then moved on to other departments. Departments with better pay, better benefits, and civil protections. Nope, these people didn't leave for greener pastures when they had the chance. They stayed right here and the least that we can do is be empathetic. If these things being said about the conditions of the department are true we should be concerned. We shouldn't be saying "if you don't like it quit" because that is condoning the mistreatment of our officers. I don't know about you, but I don't want the people who are protecting me and my family to be miserable doing so. Their jobs are hard enough as it is and low moral will not be a positive influence on their performance.

I did LOVE my job--worked from 18yo until retirement. And If I hadn't like it or my treatment, I would have gone somewhere else to work. That is why it pays to be professionally trained. Go where you want and if it doesn't work--YOU START YOUR OWN BUSINESS--and treat yourself kindly. That is what I did.--And no smart answers are needed from you jerks.

First, let me say we are still praying for you guys. Secondly I like what you said. I agree with --just give him time. And I might add that I have been told that the former sheriff was even worse than Bud. And that he did nothing--others did all the work.
