Good to know our tax increase is going to such a good cause!

Well it's nice to see some positive comments and that there are those that appreciate all the hard work that goes into these events. And - by the way - Music on the Town did not get ANY tax money - it's all done (this year) with donations. This was their first year trying to do a summer music event and given the heat, it turned out pretty nice.

DMPA gets no money from the town? Check again. Part of the justification for the property tax increase was to fund DMPA and the bottomless pit otherwise known as Main Street.

DMPA got HALF the money they normally get and NONE of it was for Music on the Town... the money they DID get goes directly back into the town for flowers, Christmas decorations, and so on... as for Main Street, they do some great things for the town also ...
too bad

the truth is that i have always enjoyed the event in the past but this time it just wasn't as well organized and too scattered-june is too hot to have a all day event and the music and entertainment were not generally as good as times past-it kinda felt like those tourist shows in Piegon Forge-maybe it will be better in the fall-seems like the last couple of thing they had downtown kinda flopped-basspro family day ect-

AND the money for DMPA and Main Street was just a small part for the 'justification' for the property tax increase - the biggest reason (and amount) was that the Mayor and Aldermen want a slush fund/emergency fund - when they already have several hundred thousand in a reserve fund....

Yeah, and the who brougt it up is on the BOD of Main Street and a member of DMPA. Conflict of interest?

What's so funny is that those two organizations (DMPA and Main Street) are combining into one organization. They just remained separate until they could both get funding from the town, then they will become one and Main Street will get all the money. Maybe that will keep them going for another few months.

These people in Dandridge don't have a clue what they are doing!! They keep throwing their money at everything without knowing how to make it work. Personally I think the Main Street people should have gotten kicked out of town a long time ago. That Murrow girl is one of the most clueless people I have ever met with a terrible personality. and she gets paid for that??? If you don't know what you are doing, find people that do. Seems simple to me.

I would agree with clueless, but I would also add loud and obnoxious.

You people are the ones that are clueless - Tina Murrow is one of the best things that has happened to Dandridge in a long time and the Main Street people are all about preserving Dandridge. If some of you were as positive and energetic as Tina and not so negative about everything that you obviously do NOT understand....
Oh, please

Thanks Barb, but but Tina is one of biggest obstacles in Dandridge. Look at what other cities are doing that is so much more impressive than anything she has done since she has been here, and she is getting paid for it. Nobody wants to be involved with anything that she is a part of. The money that being used to pay her, could do so much more good for our town.
No Argument

No argument with that.
