Yes, John you're right it is an essential service but when will Mr. Lillis donate his services to the community as a volunteer ambulance team memeber? I would think as the only member of the town council who was born, raised and remains a resident in New Milford, you'd be first in line.

The reality of it is, New Milford as a town is increasing in population and the increase of daily living is overwelming. Most families are working more hours and don't have as much free time as they used to which becomes a problem for volunarily supported organizations.
New Milford being one of the fastest growing towns in Connecticut, New Milford Ambulance would highly benefit a paid staff for during the day.
When people call 911, they excpect professional staff as well as quick responses. This cannot be acheived without paid staffing.

Volunteer members (i.e not paid, not required to be there, not under contract) what part of volunteer are people not understanding I understand the concern over response time on occasion but where is the GRATITUDE? Thank you volunteers, for all you do both in the spotlight and behind the scenes. Do we need in incorporate money in the budget for more personnel? Perhaps, but until then we should be thankful for what we have.

You VOLUNTEER to join a Volunteer service everything after that is MANDATORY.....

Regardless if you are paid or not the State has requirements that an ambulance service, respond to all fist calls for service within its PSA (Primary Service Area).
There is plenty of gratitude, but time has come for Paid staff either local of reginal and additional vehicles to service the large town of New Milford
