The Best Spanish Food In Town:

Amigos Deli: A huge plate of rice and beans with a whole avocado with roasted spare ribs or chicken will cost you less than 10 pesos.

Rogers Park Vendors by the new soccer field on sunday: You can get two full plates of french fries and a hotdog on each plate for your kids for 7 bucks. You also get salads, hot chocolate, and hot hearty meals on wheels for less than 10 pesos.

Avoid the Ecuadorian Restaurants and Brazilian greese joints along main street: Too expensive and the service is awful.

It takes about 45 mins. to cook but
it's worth the wait.

This type of old fashioned store is just what a town like Bethel needs. Honest, unpretentious, cute. A decent place for boys and girls of the "tween" generation to hang out. As for the IDIOT who complained about "penny candy" no longer costing a penny, do you live on Pluto? Wholesale bulk candy costs way more than a penny. These good people are justified in making a fair profit on their [significant] investment. All the best of luck. I'm sure they will do well.

If they are selling the Candy for more than a Penny, why do you still call it Penny Candy?
Maybe it should be called 25 cent Candy.
Or Five & Dime Candy.
Ya, A Five & Dime Store.
Does that sound Familiar?

It sounds familiar for 1959. It's 2009. I don't know anything that costs 5 or 10 cent. I do know my sweet shops and know that Dylan's Candy Bar in NYC is more than $9.25 per pound and so is Sweet Rexie's in Norwalk, CT. Swirl in Georgetown is more as well. I don't think these prices seem bad. Candy is expensive and so is owning a retail establishment, if they are going to thrive on candy and accessories they can't be giving it away for 5 cents. Penny candy is a term used when you can select candy individually and group them together. Also, who would go in and buy 2 pieces of candy? I'm sure if you did and it got weighed it would be a couple cents anyway. Give these people a chance. All it seems that they are doing is trying to bring back some fun. Ice cream doesn't cost 5 cents, neither does coffee, why should candy? Good luck all the way.

I know why they call it Penny Candy.
I remember as a Kid going into the stores and buying Candy for a Penny.
Thats the way it was in the 60's.
Everyone sold their Candy for a Penny.
I just hope the know how hard it is to Pay Rent, Insurance, keep enough
Inventory, Etc. and still make a big
enough Profit to Live on.
Most stores in Bethel and other area Towns have a very hard time staying in business for over a couple of years. Unless you provide a Service
or can sell you product at such a High Volume, that you can make it for some time.
The average Business last 2 years and is in Debt over $68,000.
So Good Luck with their Dream,
and Hope they can make it in Bethel.

This is not a pizza restaurant, enough with the pizza talk!
Go see this amazing shop, look at their selection of all types of candy, gifts for children and women, a new party venue and just plain fun!
Most importantly this is a great couple that hasn't given up on small town America and just a fun safe environment for kids.
Maybe some of you might want to consider signing up for one of the etiquette teas.......

Went there on Sunday and they were closed.
Could not believe it, you have to stay open on the weekends to get the most sales.
Close on Monday's or any other weekday.
But not on the weekends.

I've heard many kids called Madison but never Lexington. It doesn't only have to do with asphalt in Manhattan, there is madison wisconsin, madison tennessee, lexington kentucky, lexington gardens.. They are both popular names but I wouldn't call my kid lexington. Now that I think about it, there are some kids I've heard call lexi. Is it short for lexington? or Lexus?

Are you kidding me, Bethel has beaten New Town in the quest for the perfect pizza.

There is a place on that little shoping plaza next to the BIG Y that sells the good ole fashioned genuine pizza with the thin crusty crust that I like, Made the ole fashioned way. I just love watching those guys toss the dough up in the air and kneading the pizza, makes me feel right at home.
