I was involved in a hit and run on Newton rd in 1986 I called the police 40 minutes later they showed up. I had a description of the vehicle and the plate number but the plate number did not match the car that hit me head on so the DPD said there was nothing they can do.

Yeah, and he's probably a relative of the person who drove into the back of MY car last summer on North Street and took off when I pulled out my cell phone to call the cops.
I know the moron had a damaged car because he/she left a chunk of the body jammed between my tire and my rim. Luckily for me they only clipped my right rear quarter panel, but I know they did a lot more damage to their own car.
Hit-and-runs are becoming an epidemic in this town, and the Danbury cops do absolutely nothing about them.

A friend of mine got rear-ended - also hit & run. These people have all probably been drinking and/or - illegal - sorry folks - just my opinion.

I was involve in a hit and run last year. The police do nothing and did nothing. I had the license plate a description of the car and the driver. Her insurance company investigated and I got my deductible back but she was never arrested.

ME TOO

I had a hit and run back in the early 90's on Main Street. The women took off, I got the plate number, The police ran the plate and it went back to some guy that had his plates stolen of one of his cars. So, nothing ever happened. Aggravating !!!

I had a guy being a total D*CK hit me from behind once. No damage really but you could see the impression of his plate in the dirt on my bumper. We both got out of our cars and he was a total loser about the sitch like, "What are you, going to call the cops?" I said yes and pulled out my cell phone and he drove off. I got the plate # though and went to the local police station. It came back registered to a dealership in Danbury. Happened to be where the officer took his cruiser for service. Next time he went he made a stink about it for me. They wouldnt give him the name of the person driving the car at the time, but he made it loud and clear what a total butt the guy was to me. Im pretty sure the guys hasn't been allowed to use the company car since. So sometimes there is justice, minimal as it is.

Been hit too

Yes it is a problem in Danbury where they either have no insurance or could careless. I got hit last summer and the guy did $4000 worth of damage. Got his plate and had witnesses. Still nothing done!

Ridiculous

The funny thing is the DPD do just as little when the hit and run involves a car and a pedestrian walking across the street badly injured as they do with a hit and run involving two cars with no injuries.

But just let a cops' wife and kids get into an accident with a hit and run . Suddenly ,the cops know what to do .They find someone ,bust them ,and so on. I guess you just need to have a cop in your family to get justice. It's good to be the cop !

Obviously you didn't bother reading all the other comments before making your own, or you would see that there are more of us who have experienced this hit-and-run EPIDEMIC than there are those who have NOT. And judging from your tone, you're probably one of those who hit and run - othewise you would have kept your mouth shut and proving to us all that you have nothing between your ears.

Yep...I got hit by a couple of guys who did not speak english and they took off before the cops came. Cop says it happens all the time...no insurance, no papers, etc. So, despite your concern that we are "picking" on the illegals, you know darn well that people run when they have something to hide...

If I get hit and the guy takes off, assuming I can drive after him I will. If the police are not interested in catching him. Then I will chase them and pull them out and "detain" them until them police come. I truly believe that if the police will not do there job then it is the citizens right to apprehend criminals

He doesnt have a license, insurance or registration for the 1986 ford tempo that he drives that has no brakes, stop lights, and the left front wheel is about to fall off. So you see, it is his right to "hit" someone and take off. He has been doing it since he arrived in the USA I LOVE IMMIGRANTS, I HATE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS...FOLLOW THE LAW..PAY TAXES... MY GRANDPARENTS DID SO WHY SHOULDNT RAUL ESPINOZA????? They're looking for a dark-colored pickup, not a Ford Tempo.
