Danbury firefighter faces misdemeanor charge

A Danbury firefighter who was honored three years ago as a Firefighter of the Year has been charged with interfering with a police officer.

He will get the case dismissed.

He was chasing his girlfriend

and told the cops he was trying

to Stop her

She told the cops they were fighting

and did not want him around

He refused to leave and began

arguing with cops.

Maybe he should have left when he was told to, he's not above the law just because he's a career firefighter. He should respect the job of the police officer, he knows better.

I'm not saying he's a bad guy, sounds like he made a poor choice to stick around and now he will answer to the charges just like a regular civilian.

How embarrassing!!! If he broke the law then he should be punished accordingly. Hopefully the City also takes some disciplinary action against him for his off duty conduct.

Walter is a great guy who may have had a lapse in judgement. There are always 3 sides to a story and I expect that the truth will come out. It is too bad that the newspaper sees fit to make a story out of this.

Native Americans have their own languages too, but they don't attempt to force dual-language signage and bilingual classes in the schools like the Latino/Hispanics do.

When it comes to his job, you either do it well or you don't. Job reviews don't mean squat in firefighting or ems. Your co-workers will take care of that.

There was another Danbury firefighter arrested recently for DUI. Why no article? Perhaps he's not Hispanic. Perhaps the Newtown police do not have a personal agenda. Just sayin'

I bet if it were an other cop that was off duty and this happened, the situation would be differnet. Cops would never arrest another cop. Just look at the CSP! Read the CSP New York report.
