Hurray for the citizens of Ridgefield. Finally people are getting out there to vote down the never ending spending antics of our towns government! I voted NO across the board. In this day and age, we all need to tighten our belts. Our Schools need more money? are you kidding?? Our kids have too much to begin with. There are schools in other places of the US that get along fine with alot less than our kids have. Suck it up BOE - you guys are spoiled rotten.
Police Station needs nicer accomodations??/Give me a break! Big Victorian on the hill? It's a jail for crying out loud- next thing they'll want a spa. Bet the chief and his buddies will be out harassing the folks of Ridgefield. Handing out cell phone tickets, chasing the kids out of parking lots- ticketing cars for parking too long....Payback will be a B*TCH for us. Believe me- they're a vindictive bunch.
Sorry - am I being a little hostile about the cops??? Well you gotta live here to understand were I'm coming from.
RIDGEFIELD RESIDENTS----CONTINUE TO SAY NO EACH TIME THIS TOWN WANTS TO SPEND MONEY---- ELSE WE'LL ALL BE FORCED TO MOVE SOMEWHERE WE CAN AFFORD.
You should read the paper more closely. The Police Union wrote two articles stating that they were against the renovations to the building. The only one in favor was the Chief.

The town can save money by turning off all the lights in the parking lots and schools late at night. I sometimes go by the high school and Scotts Ridge middle school at 12am and it is lite up like a christmas tree. But last night on tv they say they are going to have to cut jobs because all the rising cost with energy and fuel. Turn the lights off and save. Thats a tough one to figure out.
dog it will save $11K by turning off the lights. what i yet to read in the whole debate is one meaningful suggestion on how to save money and keep the budget increase flat or down. If there is so much waste in the budget then point it out.

Take away the take home cars from the chief of police, fire and town highway. Why does the executive police officer and the asst fire chief need cars?

Well That is 11k right there. I guess that is just small change to you. That could be 1 para position at a school. Just leave the lights on and waste the money. Thats smart to do anyway. While we are at it we should turn on the stadium lights two. Its only another 11k. WHen you start watching what you spend it tends to add up.

Exactly, so I doubt they are going to be getting out their pens, but if they do the best way not to get a ticket is not to break the law.

At this point, it does not matter what the selectman, BOE, or the finance board propose. It has been too many years of business as usual. Thumbs down, no matter what!! I am fed up.

lets hear some more chatter. This budget requires/deserves more input from the people that are going to foot the bill. NO on June 3!!!

I certainly can understand cutting the education butget but not other muncipal. It's far too dangerous for highway, parks and recreation employees who are often overlooked to be cut funds and staff to do their work properly.
